I have not been around here a lot this year, for different reasons. But, I am very happy for what BiaB is able to do for me. I have seen some rants around here, but I have seen more praise. But ok, what can I expect from BiaB 2018?

1. Will it no more "always" stop at bar 8?

2. Do I still have to copy the song name before I export it as WAV, in order not to have to type it again?

3. When I am finish a song, and want to open another, will it still ask me to save it first, even I just saved it, before i exported it as WAV?

4. Will it be a bug report forum here, so that we can report obvious bugs like this, and have it fixed in the next update right away? And yes, I am well aware of the wish list forum, but that is not the same, right?

5. Is anything done with the screen resolution, so that I can minimize the VST window without it just disappear out of sight ? Reported about this in the start of this year, but no response from PG music....

6. Will PG Music respond to posting in the wish list forum, if the suggestion is good or not so good?

7. Will BiaB finally give me a free beer when I have accomplish a song that will end up in the top ten song hits? smile

With this little rant, I wish all of the great forum members a peaceful Christmas and a happy new year...:)

Unfortunately no, I've seen this problem also in 2018, from time to time.

Yes, the "Save" and "Save as" commands have been working in a strange way for years, also in 2018. This has been reported several times.

I also would like to see a dedicated (and open) bug report forum here, I think it would help a lot to developers and users. And I especially wish that fixing reported bugs would be the first priority for the developers.

It obviously must do it because it has been raised, but it's never stopped for me on Bar 8.

Trygve,

Am I missing something? I thought that Videotrack and I solved that problem for you earlier in the year. It was because you'd been using the "Melody | Generate Soundtrack" feature and somehow the 'Whole song' checkbox was not activated.

Here's the thread...

Yeah, I remember that tread, but it only partly solve the problem, by let the song stop at another bar, (Not always, but in between) later on in the song, depend on how many bars the song is.. Stopped at bar 97 for me yesterday, in one of my imported songs... So a permanently fix is stil needed from PG Music...

Strange...I've been using BIAB live for my backing band for many years now and I've never, ever had that happen. Have you called PG Music's tech support?

Trygve,

Can you give some more information about what you mean by "Imported songs"? Is this one you got from the internet or somewhere?

In the meantime, here are a couple of possibilities...

ONE
Have you double-checked that the ending bar for the song is set correctly? (See the image below.)

If you've been deleting and inserting bars to create your song, it's possible that the ending bar is incorrect and the song will thus behave incorrectly.

TWO
It's possible that you've got a corrupted SGU or MGU file or you've somehow set some settings that are still present and influencing behaviour. (I know that you like to experiment with everything that BIAB has to offer.)

Try opening the song in Realband and then use Realband to save the song as an SGU/MGU with a new name. This will strip many of the complex setting from the song file.

Now open your new file in BIAB and see if it plays properly.

Regards,
Noel

Noel, I've never used that "Soundtrack" feature, so that's not the problem, at least in my case.

I've never tried to isolate the problem or investigate under which circumstances it occurs because it seems to appear randomly, it's not a real problem to me (just one of these quirks that you get used to work with when you have been working with BIAB for years) and, to be honest, because sometimes I 'm not enough motivated to spend my time in investigating and reporting BIAB problems when (probably) I'm not going to receive any response from PG Music.

All the best.

Cerio,

Next time it happens, check under "Melody | Generate Soundtrack".

There have been a couple of instances on these forums here where settings in this section have been activated even though users are unaware of this feature.

Hope you had a happy Christmas and all the best for 2018!
Noel

Thanks Noel..I guess I am a little like Cerio here.. I mention it, because it IS there, unsolved for how many years. But since I am not using BiaB as a backing band, it does not balder me that much, to start a long investigation. I have been used to just hit the space bar, and usually the song continue from the bar it stopped at then. A bit strange that it happens only for some of us, and not for all.. That might have something to do with the PC itself...

This year I have worked mostly with Midi, so the songs that stop is midi songs. The, mostly, lack of responds, from PG Music to problems I report here, makes me a little "never mind" and life and music production/composing/remixing goes on...;)

Stil a zillion of reasons to love BiaB and RB though, and not to mention u great guys here in the forum, that ALWAYS respond to and try to solve problems, both visually and wordily...;)
