Not that I know of. jBridge is $10, about the price of a couple of cups of coffee. It's not free, but it's close. Remember also that somebody had to develop it, test it, debug it, put it through regression testing, test it under multiple operating systems, test it with many different VST's, validate it, document it, and market it. I personally wouldn't expect them to do that for free. 10 bucks is cheap. YMMV.

I bought jbridge probably 10 years ago, long before BIAB/RealBand implemented it. I haven't paid a penny since, even though it has been updated many times. $10 seems like a small price to pay, and even though you don't need to do it with BIAB or RealBand, it can be used with other hosts that don't support it internally by using the jbridging utility that comes with it. In addition to letting you use 64-bit plugins in 32-bit hosts, it works the other way also; you can use 32-bit plugins in 64-bit hosts.

Yes, it doesn't work perfectly with every plugin out there (which amazingly seems to be a showstopper for some folks), but I'm all about being able to use many versus using none. It's just another tool in my toolbox.

I'm in the UK and bought the full monty BIAB 2018 but took my courage in both hands and chose download only.

Downloaded and installed the base files and let the download manager do the rest.

I'll never choose dvds again. no customs no hassle and no media to lose or damage

Thanks, the seems to work good, made by the same guy that made VSTHost Slavery Suite (above), it doesn't seem to send VstTimeInfo for vsts like EZDrummer 2 (maybe this will be added ?, just can't see any contact info).
For audio fx and synths it should be fine.

I bought jBridge for $10 directly from jBridge long before PGMusic implemented it (so for more years than I can remember now) and have never paid any more since then. It truly is a one-and-done purchase.

Not exactly so...

Bought J-bridge years ago. Computer died a while back so no J-bridge any more. So I would like to see a free alternative to J-bridge. I didn't mind the $10 bucks, but when you have to buy licensed software more than once, you tend to think twice.

Dan, if you were already registered for jbridge, you should have been able to request a new copy of the software to install. I've done that many times. Mine is installed on three machines, through multiple O/S upgrades (Win7 to Win8 to Win10), etc. I've only purchased it one time.

You can't just download it from the web site - that is just a demo version. There is a link to request it with the email address you registered with. When I moved to Florida, I even sent an email to J to request my registered email be changed, since I didn't have access to my previous service provider, which he did. Anytime I hear of an updated version, I just request it from the jbridge site.

Hi Dan,

We still have a copy of the email JBridge sent when you last purchased it. If you need to reinstall, just let us know and we'll be happy to forward you the email.

Joao at JBridge would also have a record of the purchase, and would do the same if asked. He's a great guy, and wouldn't knowingly make you pay more than once. smile

Cheers

Just submit your email here https://jstuff.wordpress.com/jbridge/updates/
and it will send you the latest version per-registered to your email.

It is good to have an alternative to try as well if you have any issues with JBridge.
The NetVSTHost for Mac (made with WineBottler) should run Windows VSTs on a Mac.
But you won't get vst sync like you do with JBridge.
