John, what program were you in that you double-clicked the file? Windows Explorer?
Yes windows explorer (sometimes called the "windows file explorer" as opposed to "windows internet explorer").
I also call BIAB song files directly from the Micrsoft-Access database program and from a browser page on my computer which is running under the xampp program used for developing web pages before they are shipped up to a web hosting company for internet use.
What about trying to resolve this problem with the old (
reset to default factory settings while running as administrator) trick. It seems to work when everything that makes sense fails. Below are the notes I copied from this forum on how to do this.
=========================
To log in as administrator...
1. close BIAB
2. Right-click on the start-up short-cut and select "Run as administrator
Setting "back to factory defaults" is found under the "Options" menu on the top menu bar. There are two options here. Try the "Most settings" one first and then, if that doesn't work, try the "All settings".
Also, prior to resetting, I suggest saving a copy of the current preferences (under "Options") so that they can be reloaded if necessary.
Lastly, before doing any of the above, restart the computer. A full restart will clear all memories of those bits and bytes that sometimes get stuck in memories and stop the computer from operating at its optimum.
