What's up with real track 3135 - resonator guitar in style _Hamper.sty?
It sounds like it plays in the wrong key. No problem with 3134.

Hey there,

That Style is best played at about 60bpm, which is pretty slow. If you're using a significantly faster tempo, the resonator guitar will be the first instrument to sound a little funny, just given the nature of resonator guitars.

I played it at 60 first, which sounded fine, but when I bumped the tempo up, it did sound a little odd. Could this be what's happening in your case too?

Hi David. Tempo is set at 60. I rechecked the track time base but it is normal. I thought it might be my song but it sounds the same when I load the style demo. It sounds great in the real track picker dialogue player.

Here's a wav file from the dtyle demo.

Ooof, yeah, that's pretty off.

I haven't been able to replicate this issue in my own copy of Band-in-a-Box, I've loaded up the Style Demo and the resonator sounds great. I tried transposing, and the resonator transposes just fine along with everything else.

Do you have any plugins or patches applied to Guitar 2 (the resonator track)?

I'll ask some colleagues about what could be causing this too, maybe they know of something I don't.

In the meantime, maybe try testing out some other styles to see if there are any other RealTracks doing this, and let me know what you find.

Also, what OS and version of Band-in-a-Box are you using?

Thanks, I'll get back to you once I hear from my colleagues.

Ok, some developer colleagues responded, and I have a couple things to try.

First, if you send us a frozen .sgu file (frozen meaning with all tracks frozen) we can take a look at it to see what's going on. You can email that to support@pgmusic.com.

One possibility is that you may have accidentally checked "half-time" in the RealTracks picker, which, at the tempo of 60bpm, would treat the RealTrack at 120bpm, but then STRETCH it down to 60, causing it to sound strange.

If that's not it, another thing to try would be download and re-install the RealTracks installer to that contains RT set 322 from your account. That could solve the issue.

In any case, a frozen .sgu file will help us figure out the cause of this mysteriously troubled Resonator.

Thank you as well, David. Downloading and installing set 322 did the trick.

which solution cured it?

This one sir. Andrew removed his post as David replied at about the same time with this suggestion:
