Dixie

I decided to do a public domain song for this submission. When I first listened to the realtrack demo for this I realy wanted to do "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" but then realized it was still under copyrite. So I went with a song I've been wanting to record for a long time... Dixie.

Style Used: _CENSURE.STY Censure Orchestral Folk Pop
Category: Pop? (I think its more Americama but I guess that falls under pop in this case.)

Tempo: 124 bpm
Key: D major

Realtracks:
~2489:Bass, Acoustic, Bowed Held Simple
~2293:Horn Section, Rhythm Pop Pads
Real Drums=Foot Stomp Klezmer
2932:Guitar, Acoustic, Fingerpicking Songwriter Alternating 8ths
2508: String Quartet, Rhythm Pop Even Hall

Other Instruments:
VSTi: Xpand 2 by AIR Music Technologies, French Horn (Solo)

Lyrics:
O, I wish I was in the land of cotton
Old times there are not forgotten
Look away, Look away,
Look away, Dixie Land

In Dixie where I was born in
Early on one frosty mornin'
Look away, Look away,
Look away, Dixie Land

Chorus:
O, I wish I was in Dixie
Away, Away,
In Dixie Land I'll take my stand
To live and die in Dixie
Away, away
Away down south in Dixie.
Away, away
Away down south in Dixie.

well I enjoyed this , although I did feel one of the rhythm guitars running away from the rest of the song.

Might just be me, good luck in the comp.

I've always had a soft spot for that "take something well known and do something different with it" concept, and you certainly fit that bill right there.

And those killer vocals - man oh man, I'm jealous!

very strong vocal with emotion -- excellent choice of the real tracks -- a really different presentation of a traditional song

Sammy,

What a wonderful rendition. It always amazes me how someone can take a song and completely change everything about the song and make the old sound new.

The vocal track is also a great showcase of your vocal capabilities. Good luck on the competition. You're definitely in it 2 win it grin

hello Samuel.

A real nice take on this old classic. Your vocal is always stroon every song you sing and shines on this one. Good luck!

Really liked the slower tempo and your vocals are excellent.

Good luck.
