I often wondered why there isn't a Pause button in PT, that way you can pause and then continue listening from the same place, rather then hitting Stop and having to go at the beginning.

Anybody know why there isn't a Pause button?

thx

?

The Transport does not need a Pause button.

If you hit Play and let it roll, then hit Stop, the timeline cursor stops *right there* with no auto-rewind.

If you hit Play again, it continues rolling from where you stopped.

It will only rewind if you hit Rewind (or use the keyboard shortcut of W).

that was pretty silly of me Mac
I hadn't realized that there was an Auto-Rewind option...
that's what happens when I only use the program occasionally
thx

...still, I think it would be handy if the "play" button, if pressed while playing, would do the same as the "stop" button. On the other hand I could just get used to using the space bar instead.

Yes, Spacebar is where its at.

Matter of fact, getting used to using all the keyboard shortcuts for the Transport controls (Play, Stop FF, Rew & Rec) is a good thing IMO.

My problem is similar - I need a pause button for recording.
I record the message at my church. Being able to pause and restart without the need to answer "keep take?" would be wonderful.

Am I missing a setting somewhere?

I don't know of any way to do that, perhaps you have one for the PT Wishlist here.

On the other hand, you might try using the free Audacity program for your church recordings, which does indeed allow use of the Pause button during recording and likely you don't need full multitracking for that task anyway, I'm thinking you are probably recording a single stereo track at the time?

Mac,
Thanks for the quick reply.
Do you think there will be a PowerTracks version 13?

I least I know I'm not missing some hidden pause button when recording.

Currently, I just run the recording and take notes that tell me what time a long pause occurs or something I will want 'out'.
Upgrading to a new faster laptop has really speeded things up.

I'm just recording mono - it's all just words spoken.

I have no inside info but I love to try and guess what's going to happen so here goes.
1. RB is PT on steroids
2. PT is still avaiable

My guess is you'll see a TOTALLY new PT that rivals some of the so called big boys.

I think you should give Audacity a try then...
