Screen To Gif is a free tool to record a screen animation that can be uploaded to the forum in the File Manager as an attachment (just keep the gif file under 2meg).
https://screentogif.codeplex.com/
Just set the window size and position then hit record, you can move the window while recording, then just Save as GIF, keep it as short as possible for a file size under 2meg.

To view Animated gif files in Internet Explorer > Tools - Internet Options - Advanced - Multimedia > Check, Play Animations in webpages.
To save animation to pc right click image, Save Image As.

Another free application is ++ LICEcap by Cockos Incorporated ++ . Yep, that's the same folks that make the digital audio workstation, Reaper.

I believe another forum member mentioned the program in an earlier post so I don't want to imply I "discovered" it. crazy

Pipeline, thanks for this tip.

I'm not sure how to keep the resulting GIF under 2 MB, though. I saved a pretty short file (about three seconds) as quality = 10, and it was 2.7 MB. Then I changed the quality = 1, thinking that must reduce the file size, and it was still 2.7 MB. Obviously I am missing something in the settings? Thanks.

Try the FPS setting at the bottom, I have it on 9 but you can try it lower.
You don't want to do full screen capture.
If it is too big you might need to upload to a dropbox or mediafire.
Google free image hosting.
