Is there an east way (BB,RB) to generate a group of bar drum fills from half a bar to perhaps 2 bars at most. Not looking for a Ginger Baker drum solo.

I'd like to then cut and paste them where appropriate in a RB/DAW arrangement.

Thanks.

This Video may help you with that. He talks about drum fills for cutting and pasting into his song beginning around the 12:00 minute mark.

This is an older video series that demonstrates making a BNB from start to finish in 4-5 videos. It is an excellent tutorial, in my opinion, that you may find useful watching the entire series at some point if you have the time.

Charlie,
Spot on!

His videos not only answer my question but provide some real useful stuff for building backing tracks.
The peak limiter plug-in looks like it will be very useful to get the volumes up.

Do you thing most people using BB and RB chart out the song in BB without using choruses/repeat features? Seems like the first thing RB does with a song is "unroll" all that.

Thanks.

I do think most use the single chorus format. I do and I'm aware that Guitarhacker seems to recommend it as well.

It is much easier to keep track of where you are in your song as well as to make minor variations between a first verse from a second verse giving the song more of a live feel.

I'm glad the videos worked for you. They were a big help when I was first learning and I also found Dan's enthusiasm inspirational and motivating.

There is also a two part video series for making songs with RealBand. Different presenter but the videos are well done.

How was he able to have drums created without the last chord continuing to play? I have tried this and it kept vamping on a D chord.

I have SO done just the bare minimum with this software....

Set the range with either a 2 bar or 4 bar ending.
(If I understand the question)

If you only generate up until the bar you want the song to end, and let RB know whether you are using a 2 bar or 4 bar ending it is usually pretty predictable. At least it is here.

First example I could think of is below. All the RTs use the same ending generation including drums and it is all RT's .. I don't think I played anything on this, just toyin with RT's

(for some reason I like this one to get in a programming frame of mind)
It's less than 2 minutes to the end.

/after re-listening I think I may have played the (buried) piano

Mute all instruments except the drums using F5. Or, as was done in the video, he appeared to use the following format to just play the drum = G...g, g.d, g..d

However,

Later in the video series the author auditions a fiddle part that was generated after the end of the song and then cut/pasted that into his song. At some point, he generated audio tracks as well as the drum fills and you can see the generated audio on the tracks.

Even if the other instruments are generating new audio from these shots/holds/rests, each is on its individual track and what is not needed can be ignored or discarded.
