Hi, have had a thread on the Beginners forum and was suggested I post here....so here goes.
Trying to get my Goldstar GMK-49 keyboard set up in Real Band
(and Biab).
I have just purchased a midi cable - Icon Midiport interface which requires no driver installation (maybe good or bad)
I am running the 2017 Real Band alongside of Biab 2017 Ultra plus pak. At the moment I have a very basic piano sound working with an unacceptable amount of latency.
I have no idea how and where to look for other sounds - organ, strings etc that I can play.
I can load a midi file from the net into Real Band and it comes up on different tracks showing the particular instruments and will play. I can change the instruments on the tracks to whatever is available. (You can see I am really starting from scratch but used to muck around with midi 20 years ago which is the age of the keyboard.)
When I purchased Biab I downloaded the trial version of Coyote Forte from their web site but because my interface was not compatible with windows 10 I had no luck getting anything to work and now the trial version is expired. Happy to buy that if I can get the system to work without the latency. I will try to post the setup from the real band page to see if that is correct and any other suggestions will be much appreciated.
Many thanks........flying blind.

So we don't rehash what has already been discussed, here is the original thread where the initial troubleshooting occurred.

Okay, if you are doing RealBand now (versus BIAB), you need to right click on the track and make sure it is a MIDI track and set the track number and MIDI instrument. Since you don't have anything else, you should make sure your default synth is the Coyote WT. Make sure your ASIO setting is set to always on, otherwise you won't hear anything from the keyboard unless you are actually recording or playing something back.

Also, post a pic of your Prefs-Audio settings in Realband. The other thread showed a BiaB image after installing ASIO4All, this thread you posted the MIDI sttings but RB's audio driver settings..

Thanks, I have a piano playing with zero latency. Bit confused on how to change this instrument.
Here is a few screen shots which may assist. Sorry, haven't got how to actually place the image yet.
Trying to get an output driver but it plays without a selection.

The main problem I see is that you are trying to record MIDI on an audio track. See the images below for how to record MIDI data.

Also, in your first image link, you'll see a button labeled 'Move Selected Device to Top'

In the box above this you'll notice MIDI Mapper is above the MS GS Wavetable Synth
You'll also see the error message mentions the MIDI Mapper setting.

Clicking that button will move the MS Wavetable Synth to the top of the list.
This alone fixes many issues.
Not only is it now selected to use, it is assigned the default slot.
I guess sometimes it matters whether it is in the default slot (not just selected). MIDI Mapper is rarely the best choice in Windows.

NEXT:
In image your 5 all MIDI channels are assigned to the same patch (Piano - 1)
Click on the desired MIDI channel and select a different sound.
See my image below. Click arrow at bottom left of your track, select Edit VSTi, and select a patch for that MIDI channel. I'm about to select an electric bass patch for MIDI channel 2 in my image.

Away for a couple of days so will get back to it next week.
Looks pretty encouraging at this stage.
thanks
