Track-merge has changed

If I merge two mono tracks the program makes the new track a stereo track.
It used to stay mono.
I think it should go back to being this way.

There is a separate command for merging two mono tracks to a stereo track in the Tracks menu.

I think you should be able to merge and split tracks as follows. That would give the greatest flexibility, and I would think this shouldn't be that hard to do:

a. Split a stereo track to two mono tracks (which can be panned left and right to preserve the stereo effect)
b. Convert a stereo track to one mono track (obviously, center panned in the wav form, but can now be panned by the program)
c. Merge 2 (or more) tracks (which can be a mix of stereo and/or mono tracks) to a stereo track you specify
d. Merge 2 (or more) tracks (which can be a mix of stereo and/or mono tracks) to two mono tracks you specify (which can be panned left and right to preserver the stereo effect)
e. Merge 2 (or more) tracks (which can be a mix of stereo and/or mono tracks) to one mono track (obviously center panned in the wav form, but can now be panned by the program)
