Can we get an easy way to use Lame encode in RB? For mp3 creation .. like Audacity does.
I agree. Right now realband creates a zero bytes file when I try to make a mp3.
Mp3-conversion works fine in other programs like audacaty, but in realband it produces indeed the best possible compression zero. ;(
Audacity has it's own MP3 CODEC, but RB requires you to have one i beleive
Download one and install it.
Personally i like to always export wave files and convert to MP3 afterwards in a 3dr party program like Lame. That way i always have the complete wave file to store.
Audacity does not have it's own codec at least not in the past. LAME is what Audacity pointed one to. Still needs to be installed and you still need to point Audacity to where that codec actually lives on your machine.
In fact here's the text from Audacity on the preferences specific to where LAME is located: ---------------------------
Export MP3
---------------------------
Audacity does not export MP3 files directly, but instead uses the
freely available LAME library to handle MP3 file encoding. You must
obtain lame_enc.dll separately, by downloading the LAME MP3 encoder, and then locate this file for Audacity. You only need to do this once.
Would you like to locate lame_enc.dll now?

Yes No

Installing LAME in PG products is a pain, I was suggestting they make it esier like Audacity does. That's all.
Being able to (easily) point to the LAME codec inside PG products would be nice.
Pointing to the LAME dll is pretty common. Tracktion does it this way as well. For outboard conversion I really like the wavsqueezer app from ISG software (uses LAME as well). LAME is packaged with it.
