I support this. I took an old track and re-mixed it to use RTs. Unfortunately, no matter what I did, it sounded like the instruments just fell down (literally) at the end. In the end, I finished mixing and mastering and saved it then opened it in Audacity and gave it a fade out ending for the last 10 seconds. That worked but several songwriting contests I know of specifically rule out fade-outs.
