I started with a MGU file then changed the midi tracks to real audio tracks.

The melody track is still there although it plays the melody with an audio file.

When it came time to save my efforts the file saves as SGU and not MGU.

Why does it not save the finished song as a MGU file ?

How do I save my efforts as a MGU ?

Hi w,

Inasmuch as I understand how BIAB on the PC works, if there is no midi information on either the Soloist or the Melody track, the song will save as SGU. Audio information does not cause it to save as MGU.

Because the midi tracks have been changed to audio tracks, it sounds like BIAB no longer sees the melody that prompts the save to MGU. Have you checked notation view to see if there are any notes still on the Melody or Soloist track?

The bottom line is that if BIAB saves as an SGU file, and everything sounds fine, then there is no reason that the song needs to be an MGU file. There is nothing to worry about. MGU is not better than SGU. They are both BIAB formats.

Regards,
Noel

Thanks Noel.

That makes sense.

Hope MR PG does a fix for this quirk because it becomes complicated when searching for SGU or MGU files.

Perhaps MR PG could create a file designation something like MGA to designate MG Audio track replacing the midi instrument track.
