BIAB 2018 is here!

(can I get a "woo-HOO!" from the crowd?)
"woo-HOO!"
Lots of good features and some great RealTracks. I especially love the new low-latency WAS drivers.

I've bought all my upgrades.
Yah!! Can’t wait. The video realtracks sound very very interesting. I’m gonna be trying that as soon as my disc arrives.
So is the Ultra Pak the old Everything Pak?
Ordered and paid. Now to wait for the postman to arrive!

Hi Jo
AFAICT - No its not. The Ultra listing is minus the Midi Songs and Lessons Pak and uncompressed (ie WAV) files as it always has been. It looks like EVERYTHING PAK has gone and the only way you get the Midi Songs and Lessons Pak (and of course the wavs) now is in the Audiophile version.
I'm pondering this a bit - IF I have 2017 ULTRA (as I do) with all the current Extras Paks up to that date, whats the DISADVANTAGE in simply buying the new 2018 PLUS PACK plus the BONUS PACK to get all the latest Real Tracks?
Is it a money saver if I have little interest in midi?
Am I missing something important here?
Regards
Ian
Oh dear! I love all the midi songs.
Just chatted to Deryk. I can purchase the midi songs separately

Be careful as you may already have all of those! I bought the everything one year and saw that the extras were all very very old!

Yes thanks j*3 will wait till my disc arrives
The name change was because someone observed the Everything Pak did not have 'everything'. I expect there will be a little more detail forthcoming on exactly what the various upgrade paths are.

EDIT: This page gives better detail for those upgrading: http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=441483&gonew=1#UNREAD

This is 100% correct. If you've ever purchased an EverythingPAK, you have the Songs and Lessons PAK already and don't need to purchase it again. That content hasn't changed in a very long time.

Thanks

Just don't lose it!
I learned the hard way (long ago) that it is possible to lose Bonus content, and never see it offered again .. then again I've also seen some Bonus content (that cost extra the previous year) included with the next year's version.

Ya pays yer money and ya takes yer chances, but once you have it, back it up.
<grin>

FWIW a hosting package with huge storage (even if you don't need a website) is pretty cheap at places like 1and1, godaddy, etc

Just a rharv suggestion to those with multiple systems they maintain (and want to keep):

I see unlimited storage/websites for $10-$14/month.
$5/month for the first year.

Stash a backup online somewhere like this and they will never lose it.
Then you can backup everything in the house to a location that is
A. CDN - so replicated (multiple current copies)
B. Backed up in case anything DOES ever happen to the server (may be older data but valuable)
C. Handy storage, easy to use and secure

It still takes a little time/effort, but knowing you have things saved off-site can be a huge relief when disaster strikes.

$120/year seems reasonable to me to know it will always be available.
That data could save a computer. Or it could just be a handy shareable storage.

I have also let other members here FTP data to the account, since I can limit their access to everything pretty easily.
Lots of reasons to like it once you have it.

This must be the same thing as the WASAPI driver - which confers compliance with the improved low latency audio API that was introduced in Win10. Is that right? So no need for ASIO4ALL anymore?

Hrm... The exact same song seems to play for all the "Aah" and "Ooh" demos. blush

Still, that's probably worth the price of the upgrade just for those, since I've been asking for them forever, and that one demo sounds nice.

There's a lot of stuff this year, but the Folk Acoustic Guitar track seem particularly useful.

But still no pop flute, or sweet flugelhorn (think Nobody's In Love This Year)?

Well, there's always next time. wink

Here's a flute for you, assuming money is no object..

If you don’t have an ASIO driver, then yes, try the WAS driver setting. You probably know, ASIO4ALL is not true ASIO. if you need to reduce latency, try ASIO then WAS.
David, yes, they know about the aah ooh demo. Thanks.
John, is that a joke? Read the names of the loops.

If could be... Among other things, the description says one of the file formats this is offered is SNIFTI, which is "Still awaiting ISO/IEC standardization":

Listening to the "Aaah" demo, the first thing I thought of was that I could now create a jazzy version of Waiting for the Worms.

Does this make me a bad person? crazy

Don't know if it's a joke, but I get lots of ads from loop loft.

Well, you can get an "Oooh Aaaah" from the RealTracks Set 278.

Unless you're on a Mac. This is the only time of the year I can feel slightly superior to the Mac users of the world.

Funny, I thought of 'Smell-i-Vision' years ago .. never caught on. <grin>
We have surround sound so why not the smell of a scene in a movie also?

The thought was triggered by Bowie lyrics from 'David Live' .. "my set is amazing; it even smells like a street. There's a bar at the end where I can meet you and you friends"
how cool would that be to smell the street during the movie

Oh wait, what about the Bog of Eternal Stench in Labrynth?!?
nevermind
