TWO interesting Youtubes the first however, is a possibly disturbing sign of more mindless crap to come: pseudo –science influenced bureaucrats meddling over actual science and some common sense. The second YouTube he second is just down right techno-geek interesting especially for us analog geeks.

Being an ex-tech who still does all his own electronics MX I watch this guy’s channel. He gets some really nice amps and does some interesting amp, tape deck, etc. repairs and some interesting miscellaneous Youtube's (like his Guitar Center dumpster diving coming up with a mindless hacked up Gibson Gold Top)

Happy New Year all.

Researching this “restriction.” Beginning to wonder whether it is a misinterpretation if regulations by eBay.

This from Vacuum Tubes dot net. No date, but no mention of limitations.

Do they have a problem because the product doesn’t carry a TC (Transport Canada) designation for “tubes”? This applies only to piping and shipping containers!

you are probably correct

I found lots of places that announce they send out tubes via USPS or UPS (I GET THEM THAT WAY and SEND A FEW OUT THAT WAY)

so YES this COULD be overkill/over reaction to a non-issue and I might be guilty of helping spread the "scare."

but it may actually be being enforced somewhere. Like going through airports which I did at least once a week, and more often than not more than once a week, for more than 30 years. Some airport TSA allow this or that to go though and on return trip another airport TSA agent says you can't bring on-board.

After the scare with the shoe bomber and the binary explosive scare - three days later I had to actually throw away a travel weeks worth of nearly a dozen medical Rx, all of them PILLS, not liquids, and two where Schedule II items (aka "evil" opiates - that was hard to explain to Doc!)

I did not mean to suggest that you were spreading misinformation, Larry; rather that eBay was misinterpreting some regulation or other. I have heard of crazier things.

I once had to allow some vitamins to be x-rayed, KNOWING that it would destroy them, by an overzealous TSA functionary at SJO in California. It didn’t matter that no one at any other airport had ever demanded this.

Rumor has it that there is a worldwide shortage of vacuum.

( Exiting stage left )
At least you have comedy to fall back on Donny! Nice one.
Yeah, I threw my vacuum away because it was just gathering dust.

(I know, my comedy is going down the tubes).

It’s natural to abhor such things.
grin
Fairly ridiculous, to say the very least.

It seems that people who don't understand technology just close the door, hoping what they don't know will just go away. crazy

Ok, that was funny! smile
Surprised no one commented on the second video about sub-miniature florescent vacuum tubes.

Larry
I did watch both, but I was taken back by the nonsense of the first video. It certainly generated a higher level of interest for me.

Larry,

I, for one, didn't realize that they could make vacuum that small.
