Oliver Gannon (Peter Gannon's brother), was appointed to the Order of Canada in recognition for "his achievements as a musician" on December 29, 2017!

Oliver recently sat for an interview with CBC's Hot Air host Margaret Gallagher - read a summary and listen to the interview at

'I don't know ... why they chose me. But I'm very glad and I'm not giving it back,'
-Oliver Gannon

To be clear, and avoid any confusion, there are two brothers: Peter Gannon is the "Band-in-a-Box" PG Music guy, and Oliver Gannon is the jazz guitarist who just won the Order of Canada.

Update: The Audio can only be streamed if you're in Canada.

I tried to listen to this interview, but it said "Not available in your area."

Do you guys not like us anymore?

Yikes! Well, CBC is Canadian - but I wasn't aware of the listening restrictions. I've updated my original post.

We still like you!
Ah an interesting read, Since Oliver was 14 when his family left Ireland here for Canada, and Peter is no doubt the younger brother, the thought crossed my mind if he has any recollection himself of the "Auld Country"

What a great family!
Well, this was a great interview, but I have to say, my favorite of all time will be:

"Yeah, but my Brother in Law Peter Gannon who married my other sister Kathy made a killing doing house calls, then he started his own company and made this thing called Band in a Box, and a salesman talked me into getting this monster computer with a 5 and a quarter inch floppy so I could put my coffee on it. Sales people are really beautiful that way, how they can spin everything around."

I don't understand why he didn't get the Canadian You Tube Comedy lifetime achievement award.

It's almost as unfair as me not being able to watch the CBC interview here in America.
