Recorded before BIAB introduced the DAW plugin, we had to create this one using the old fashioned method of exporting the MIDI version from BIAB and and running it through the Yamaha SG1000 soundcard in our DAW computer. Final mix was exported as a 24 bit WAV file and topped, tailed and mastered in Sound Forge. Dithered to 16 bit/44.1 khz and exported as a 192 Kbps MP3 file. The BIAB style used is "C_Girl" from SD#15, at 120bpm. The B part has a real "Eagles" feel which is what we were looking for at the time. With the exception of the guitar lead work and vocals the entire production came from BIAB. Quality rivals any full-production, "live musician" project we've done in our studio. In my opinion BIAB is THE singer/songwriter tool for creating original music.

Hi Bob,

Wow! This sounds excellent. Top notch in every way - composition, arrangement, performance, mix, master. I'm listening to it again as I type. It's brilliant.

All the best,
Noel

Hi Bob,
Brilliant - really enjoyable. Good arrangement, vocal, lyrics - what more can I say.

Jim
Hi Bob,
Great Job! I Love the guitar work, reminds me somewhat of Chris Rea's Road To Hell. Terrific song too!
Kind Regards,
Dave.

Hi Brian,

Thanks so much for your response. We really work hard to get things right so getting feedback from other BIAB users is priceless.

Hi Dave...I only discovered Chris Rea within the last year and have become a huge fan, so your review is a great compliment. Guitar work on this project was really fun to do. Minor key lends itself well to improv. Practically writes itself! Thanks so much for listening.

Hi Jim....thanks for listening and for your feedback. BIAB was a real inspiration in creating this project. Gave me arrangement ideas I might have over looked otherwise.

Great music Bob, I enjoy so much!. Excelent production, lyrics and voice grab attention and convey lot of feeling. Of a guitarist to another...love your guitar work! you got that a bit rashed tone from 70' 80' recordings I like so much, what guitar/amp is there? Thanks for great music, ah! also so nice you share technical details with us. Band in a Box put wings to your music as same your talent makes it a real tool !

Hi Bob,
Everything has already been said. I'll just second all the comments above. Vox and guitar are real highlights for me but everything is top notch. Thanks for sharing.

Bob

It really has all been said - I'd sure like to hear that one playing on my local radio station as I'm cruising around.

Super production

Hi Jim...thanks for your nice comments. The little VOX practice amp was a real surprise. I recently bought this amp online at Amazon.com for $99 after having heard a friend's amp. He used it for his lap steel guitar just so he could practice anywhere, since the amp can run on six "C" cell batteries. I bought it so I could practice without having to hook up a lot of stuff. The extensive onboard effects and amp/cab modeling, and lineout for recording would be pretty impressive on any amp but even moreso for one in this price range (...the day after I got mine the price went to $129, but still a deal!). I used a Fender Nashville Power Tele (active electronics) to record the guitar lead, set on the neck pickup with full tone and volume. VOX setting utilizes the #2 CLEAN (has auto compression) amp/cab setting and the TREMOLO/REVERB setting with reverb turned off (we always add reverb in the studio DAW) and the TREMOLO setting at max modulation and speed set to match the song's speed. Keep on pickin' !

Hey Powderman...thanks! You and me too! But until someone "big" covers it I'll have to be content sharing it with friends.

Keep on pickin'

Hi Carlos...thank you so much for your nice comments. The guitar in this project was a Fender Nashville "B" Bender Telecaster set on the bridge position with full volume and tone, run through a POD (no amp) set on the Blackface amp/cab with some healthy gain for crunch, and then directly into the board. This guitar is very heavy due to all the metal inside for the bending mechanism. Has some serious natural sustain. Keep on pickin'

Bob,

This is another fantastic song and mix. The SW1000XG has some nice sounds and FX on that thing. I used one when I first started with Biab. I have it somewhere around here with a daughter board for it.

You sure can write and sing my friend. This is another outstanding song. Keep em coming !!

Hi Trax...thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it. I still have all that Yamaha hardware attached to one of the DAWs here. We don't use it much anymore but it was and is still innovative stuff. It was our first studio DAW back in 2000. Wow...how far it's all come! Huh?

Bob
This is just wonderful Bob. The vocal is killer great. Song writing right on the money. Mix is great. I hope this one does something big for you. There is a HUGE amount of talent right here in this forum, all utilizing this software. THAT is a beautiful thing. This track is the kind of track you figure has to be the one to break it open for someone. I hope it does just that for you!

A+ !

Thanks Dan...I sent this one to TAXI but no forwards yet. This is a tough business, man. I produced a young lady named Jenny Pforr who's now in Nashville signed to a Arison, a Christian label, but straight up country is what she wants to do. This girl has an undergrad degree in voice from the Lamont School of Music at DU in Denver, she's beautiful, smart, and sings like an angel. Her profs wanted her to go to Broadway but she opted for Nashville...I imagine THAT didn't sit too well at her school (Search for her on YouTube to hear what I'm talking about) And yet she STILL hasn't made much of a dent in the Nashville scene after 6 years. Talent is more or less a pre-requisite, but hardly a guarantee. I guess what I'm trying to say is, we'd better like what we're doing enough to do it for "love of the game" because anything else we get is gravy, huh?
