A tribute I put together this week for the late, great Gary Moore, who passed away last Sunday. It's an instrumental based loosely on his song "Midnight Blues". Backing track is all BIAB:

Dave, very heartfelt and powerful. Great job and tribute.

Bob
Thanks very much Bob Still needs some fine tuning, but getting close I think.
Dave,

Very nicely done! I really enjoyed your playing, and a very fitting tribute.

Steve
Dave,

Nice tribute. Great tone on your guitar, cool licks too!

Greg
Dave,

Sadly I never really got to listen to much of Gary Moores work (we had hoped to see him play a gig near us later in the year). But I've listened to your tribute and I realise what I've been missing (missed).

Regards,

Dave
Thanks Steve! I tried to go over to your page and check out your music, but couldn't stream??? It kept wanting me to download for some reason.

Hey Greg, glad you liked the tone and the licks, you made my day!

Dave, if you want to get into Gary's blues work, my favorite of his blues CD's is "Blues for Greeny", a tribute CD he did for Peter Green. "Still got the Blues" is also quite good. Also the DVD from his concert at Montreux, "Gary Moore and the Midnight Blues Band at Montreux" is outstanding! A lot of the clips from that concert are over on youtube, just go over there and do a search for Gary Moore and you will find them.
Dave,
I really liked the song. Great guitar sound and chops. Well put together and quality mix. I loved the tempo change near the end. Good Job!
Marty
Hi Dave

Like your guitar sound. Round and full. Bluesy all the way. I had no idea who Gary Moore was though. I also hear a feeling of Stevie Ray Vaughn, floating around in your playing. As Marty said I also like the end. Very well packaged tune.

Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Marty, was hard to get my head around playing over that bit at the end with the change in feel, took a few passes to get it right :P

Pierre, that bit of the end is a quote from his tune "Still got the Blues". If you don't know Gary and are into guitar I recommend you check him out, lots of video over on youtube.
Hi Dave,

Your tribute was very enjoyable listening; well balanced, well mixed, extremely well played.

Regards,
Noel
Dave,

Thanks for the info on the CD..I got hold of it and had a quick listen...thought it was great and an added bonus as I like Peter Greens stuff (saw a documentry on him the other day..instead of guitars in the background like most others would tend to have he had fishing rods and a keep net...bless!).

Also managed to record & watch the Gary Moore "1 night in Dublin" concert which was a bit sad as it's a tribute to Phil Lynott!!

Cheers,

Dave.

PS could I be cheeky and ask which BIAB style you used....I have the urge to try and break my fingers!!

The main part of the tune uses _EZ_BLUZ, tempo 85 BPM. I dropped a B3 realtrack onto the piano track, can't remember if there was something there before or not. I used 673: Organ, B3, Background blues.

For the change at the end I swicthed to _DRDUN_G, can't remember if I made any changes to it. Tempo changes to 65 BPM for that part.
Thanks for the info...I think this will test my ability to use BIAB nearly as much as my dubious guitarism!!

Cheers
Coool Dave. Dem's de tones I love! Nicely played indeed.
Thanks for such an excellent tribute to a man that had so much more to say to us.

John
Super blues Dave!

I agree 100 percent about the guitar tone and your chops, outstanding.

I love the blues and you did it justice!
Hey John,

Thanks very much! Just went over to your website and had a listen to "Lost on the Breeze", just outstanding! Man, when I compare that to the stuff I hear on the radio .... well, something is seriously wrong with todays music industry. Love your studio too! Puts mine to shame.

Thanks Mario! A couple of very tasty looking guitars in your profile pic. I've always wanted a 335, but somehow ended up with three strats and a PRS :P

Loved your playing on that track you did with Noel BTW
Nice guitar work! Not to busy but just right. Very laid back and mellow song. Thanks for sharing!

My Reverbnation
I really enjoy it Dave! aside your Gary approach intention, that you do reach, your own blues feel is outstanding, I share and agree every bit of positive comments I read here. Inspiration guided by your tone stand up at front man! that is great and a must factor to me. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers!

Carlos
Hey thanks Carlos!

Hope you don't mind, I went over to your page and had a listen to your music. Outstanding! I love hearing jazz guitar played well, and you play it very well indeed!

I can't play that style at all and I'm to old to learn now I think. I very much enjoyed hearing you play
Very nice. Gary is smiling down on that right now.
Very enjoyable Dave.

Later,
Dave Im a big Peter Green fan and what he and other great guitar players like Gary Moore had was that blues"feel".Listening to this tribute its not just great guitar work i heard but it also had that wonderful bluesy feel. Thanks for the listen.Frankie
