This song contains only 1 real track #364 Acoustic Guitar. I then took the left side of stereo guitar and deleted the right and vice versa. I then put it in DAW to create the stereo. If you have the capibility to do this try it you will be amazed at the difference. I probably should have panned the guitar a little further apart, and might have gotten them lined up better volume wise but you have to move with the 5090 challenge. I hope you will give any tips and suggestions so I can try and incorporate once the challenge is over. Thanks!

3. My Song
I really like the guitar but I am not sure exactly what you did. I'll play around with it. BIAB is really a great tool that can be used in so many ways.

Nice song.
Poster: jptjptjpt I really like the guitar but I am not sure exactly what you did.

Response: As you know when you make a wave file of the instruments from band in a box they are in stereo. This is a neat trick my father in law taught me. I took the stereo guitar and high lited only the left side and deleted it; I saved this file as finger picking acoustic right. I then reloaded the original stereo guitar again and highlited only the right side of the file and deleted it. This was saved as Finger Picking acoustic left. That way when you load into your daw you have both sides seperate. Listen to them seperate and you will see a huge difference from having both side together. I think this trick would really make a huge difference in a multiple instrument mix, for example take and load the left side of the guitar track on one track and then the right side of a piano track and notice how clean it is and notice the seperation you get. I hope this helps.
Nice work.

PgF,
Nice work on these songs. Good luck in the 50/90 Challenge! I hope someday I have 50 written, never mind the 90 day part!
Regarding the stereo track splitting effect, It really makes a great improvement. There is a function in the RB track menu that does this automatically. Have you tried it? Might save some effort.

This is my 7th 5090 challenge song. The vocal is uneven, I am going to have to work on that later. The reason was I had to break the vocal between chorus and verse because of the difference in eq to make them go through the mix. All feed back is welcome.

9. It's Never To Late
Posted By: PgFantastic Re: Jesus Never Left - 07/21/12 05:56 AM
This is song 10 in the 50-90 Challenge. It was inspired by my own life experience and Proverbs 24:16. I am always sad when I hear someone say they believe they can be saved and then lost again. Because when the Son sets you free you are free indeed. Not believing that Jesus is the Son of God, and that He died on the cross for your sins, and then rose again is the only way not to be saved.

MR RIGHT
©2012

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES you are HOME ALONE
you need A LITTLE HELP to make it through
so you tell yourself SWEET LITTLE LIES
but HE'S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU
DARKNESS FALLS on your broken heart
I came to share the pain of your FIRST KNIGHT
and let you know one day you will be BLOWN AWAY
by MR. RIGHT

MR RIGHT will have you SINGING IN THE RAIN
love is such a BEAUTIFUL THING
don't you worry MY FAIR LADY
THE LOVE BUG will save you from THE STING
close your eyes and dream of MR RIGHT

ONE LAST THING before I go you leave me BREATHLESS
would you like to go on a DATE NIGHT
I am not asking to be JUST FRIENDS
girl I am your MR RIGHT

I will have you SINGING IN THE RAIN
show you love is a BEAUTIFUL THING
don't you worry MY FAIR LADY
THE LOVE BUG will save you
MR RIGHT will save you
I am here to save you girl I am your MR RIGHT

16. New Again

New Again
(C)2012

I was a rotten apple, rotten to the core
I fought God at every turn until I had no strength to fight anymore
then I fell down on my knees I prayed Lord please
forgive me, and He washed away all of my sin
He made me new again

I am new again my slate wiped clean
as far as the east is from the west He put my sin
the scars are gone He Crossed them out
when He stretched His arms out wide and took my pain
He made me whole He saved my soul
Jesus Christ made me new again

I heard His gentle voice calling out my name
I felt His love around me drawing me from Hell's flame
then I laid down all my pride, the old man died
leaving me, with love where only hatred use to be

I am new again my slate wiped clean
as far as the east is from the west He put my sin
the scars are gone He Crossed them out
when He stretched His arms out wide and took my pain
He made me whole He saved my soul
Jesus Christ made new again

Robert,

Your music and dedication is a testament to the work
you are doing.

Your voice alone emits gentleness in the messages you
are giving us. "My Song" is a very intereting technique
to get a really nice split in the sounds. Your vocals
nicely fit the simplicity of the guitar. Gentle and Kind.

25. That Day

That Day
©2012

My life before Jesus was like the void before creation
only darkness there was no light to be found
but then a knock so gentle and when i let the Savior enter
the Light shown through he turned my life around
He smoothed a heart so callous it was a major restoration
to turn a heart so solid into clay
that is why I praise Him because of His salvation
and the love that He poured out on me that day

That day He breathed in me new life
That day He spoke and there was light
The evening and the morning I will shout in endless praise
for what He did when He came in to my heart that day

I know how He salvaged me when I was drowning
in my sin filled with shades of gray
pulled down by the current He filled me with His Spirit
I thank Him for the miracle that day

Repeat Chorus x2

This song was inspired by a Cancun key holder on my wall. I have seen it countless times; yet yesterday when I saw it, I thought does it come in a bottle, lol. I then got the idea to use city names to try and create a song. One of the 50/90 Challenges was called nouns. It is 25, it is comedy. It has a bluegrass feel. Comments welcomed.

25. Things You Always Wanted To Ask
Posted By: PgFantastic Re: Senses - 08/21/12 01:43 AM
This song incorporates the 5 senses in love found, and then in love lost. The 1st vs and chorus are all Major chords for the love found, the 2nd verse and chorus uses only a piano and minor chords to portray the sadness. This is song 26 of the 50/90 Songwriters Challenge. All comments are welcome. Thanks in advance.

26. Senses

Senses
©2012 Robert Taylor

Girl I saw your beauty it was like the sunshine
you spoke my name I heard a symphony
just a taste of your lovin and the smell of your perfume
I felt all of the senses when you touched me

girl I saw the colors of the rainbow
I heard lifes song in high fidelity
tasted all the joy life had to offer
life smelled sweet like roses wet with dew
when you touched me

girl the day you left me I was speechless
you said goodbye life lost it's harmony
I got the taste of heartbreak the smell of endless doom
I went numb when you left me

girl I lost my senses I was blinded by the pain
deafened by the sound of your goodbye
life lost all its flavor the moment that you left me
the sweet auroma in my life was gone
I was numb the when you left me
I was numb the when you left me

27. That's Enough About Me

Enough About Me
©2012 Robert Taylor

I could tell you of a man so full of anger
empty inside and still so full of shame
it was always someone elses fault his failures
he never would admit he was to blame

(Chorus)
That's Enough about me, I want to talk about Jesus
the Son of God sent down here to free us
by His grace the lost are found
He put a new heart in a dead man breathin'
but enough about me I want to talk about Jesus

I would blow my stack and act so foolish
I always hurt the ones I loved the most
I was thinking that I was the captain
all puffed up sinking as I'd boast

Repeat Chorus

(Bridge)
Talk of His forgiveness
about His endless love
the Carpenter from Galilee the Shepherd of the flock
the way He was yesterday, and forever He is today
do you hear Him knock open to the Rock
I stand on the Rock

Repeat Chorus

That's enough about me I want to talk about Jesus
are you in His flock

Let's talk about Jesus
Let's talk about Jesus

This is probably my world record for writing lyrics, I sat down at 9:20pm and lyrics were complete at 9:51 Pm. I made the mistake of adding a stereo effect to this song, so in a few places it sounds a little warbled. You should be able to get the jest of it. I will fix it after the 50/90 challenge. I saw this title on Hamigos thread (thanks for the inspiration) with the same title. Check out that song it is excellent! immediately the idea for this song and the words began to flow. I listened to Hamigos version and they are completely different songs.

28. Let Me Go

Let Me Go
©2012 Robert Taylor

You don't walk these hallways anymore
you will never walk back through the door
I will never kiss your lips again
memories are all that still remain
you don't dent your pillow anymore
I never see your shoes left on the floor
why it still hurts I just don't know
but I'm begging you let me go

Let me go
so I can live again
Let me go
take away this pain
I don't understand it
how I'm still caught in your hold
but tell your memory please
let me go

you don't call my name out anymore
you will never send me to the store
my heart is filled with so much woe
I'm begging you let me go

Let me go
so I can live again
Let me go
take away this pain
I don't understand it
how I'm still caught in your hold
but tell your memory please
let me go

just like you never left me
every day is the same
just like the day you left
standing in the pain

Repeat Chorus

31. Dry Land
I got the idea for this one at McD's. I was sitting outside eating at a table and a little bird landed about 3 inches from my hand and sat there for the longest time. I began to think I wonder where he has been and what he has seen. This was also used for the 'second person' week 8 challenge at 50/90 Songwriting Challenge. Here is the link. The bird is midi. The guitars and drum are Realtracs.

Hi Robert,

Wow! I've been listening to some of your 50/90 songs. Your songwriting is zooming! "Fall On His Grace" is exceptional. It is lyrically simple, wonderfully melodic and spiritually uplifting; these features makes it highly memorable and perfect for a hymn. It's a real credit to you.

An interesting fact is that 9/8 was regarded by the Church in Bach's day as the perfect time signature because of its association with "3" (i.e. 9 = 3 x 3) and thus the Holy Trinity. For this reason, many of Bach's works are written in 9/8. The Church used to use a circle in the time signature to signify this time signature. If the time signature was anything other than 9/8, the Church used to use a half-circle. In time, this half-circle developed to become our "C" for "common time".

I'm heading back to listen to #33 again, now.

Regards,
Noel

(c)2012 Robert Taylor

We've all seen this symbol thrust
When someone feels disgust
They raise their hand up in the air
Their middle finger waves
Lord it got me thinking
That the number one is used to point
I will be the finger Lord that points the way to You

I will be the finger Lord that points the way to You
I will flip the switch that brings the lost soul to the Light
I will be a helping hand to make their gray sky blue
I will be the finger Lord that points the way to You

When they have hit bottom Lord
When life has left them floored
I will stretch my fingers out and help and lift them up
I will use my fingers to caress away their pain
I will be the finger Lord that points the way to You

If we will lay down our sword
We'll see a brighter day
When every finger across the land
Is only used to shake another mans hand

Repeat chorus

Are You Ready To "Do The Microwave?" The challenge this week was to name food in a song. This is my funny attempt at that.

This is song 45 of the 50/90 Songwriting Challenge. The instruments are all midi with Triplet feel, with the exception of the drums which are the real drums from Band in a Box.

Song 46 of the 50/90 Challenge, my voice is getting a little shaky a lot of singing since July 4. The funny thing about this song is I sat down writing lyrics for another song that I had thought about, and then this one popped in my head and just began to flow out. I had my microphone in a box that my brother built, since I do not have a soundproof room; I took it out of the box for this song and set it up in the middle of the room; I noticed in the box I was getting a lot of extra low end to my vocals even when I stood far away from the mic. This song I stood about 6" from the mic. All feed back is welcome.

Here is song 47 of the Songwriting Challenge. I used the tambourine loop from band in a box 2012. The loops in Biab are outstanding sound quality.

Robert,
What an amazing body of work! Although I haven't listened to all 48, you really have written some great stuff.
You should have 49 and 50 any day now. Are you going to make the 90 days goal? Are you going to keep going on or are you exhausted? I hope when you done you can summarize your experience for us.

SpaceDog, I hope to have 49 posted later today. It is written just need to do the demo. Had not thought about posting a summary but you have given me the idea, so I will as soon as 50 is posted. I will probably hold at 50 as my voice is nearly shot. I have gained a new respect for the professionals who sing night in and night out. They said Elvis did sometimes 2 or 3 shows a night in Vegas, His throat must have felt like sandpaper, Lol! Thanks for the kind comments!

Hi Robert,

What a wonderful message! I love the lines ...
Quote:

when life gives you a hundred reasons to cry
live like you have a thousand reasons to smile

So true!

I think it's amazing how productive you are. You are a songwriting inspiration.

All the best,
Noel

50 songs in 90 days is in the books, I had to put this song together at warp speed, to get it done in time to finish the challenge. The title was inspired from a message I heard from brother in Christ Matt Black. Here is a link to his music Matt and Joanna Black

I want to thank all who took the time to listen and give feedback on my 50/90 Songwriting Challenge material. I begin this by saying if you love writing this is the challenge for you. The 50/90 Challenge is to write 50 songs in 90 day; from July 4th to October 1st. Here is the link to it

5090 Challenge

I have participated in 2 of them now and it is a blast, you meet so many great people; I have been able to collaborate on several songs. Each week they post a challenge: some of the challenges this year were to write a song with late in the title, use Olympics in the title, there were 13 challenges in all. Also individuals will post there own challenges if you choose to try them. The rest of the time you just write what you feel like writing. I was given the idea to write about how I accomplished the challenge by SpaceDog. First and foremost I thank God for giving me the love of music! I prayed before I wrote each song, sometimes the song would be a message “I Want To Breathe”, other times it was just something meant to bring a laugh “Microwave”, which I wrote to fulfill one of the challenges about naming food in the song. I sing all of the time, instrument or not, that is all Him! Since I was 12 I have wanted to write songs. Many people think that you have to wait and be inspired to write a song. The whole premise behind the Challenge is to just write and that you do not have to wait to be inspired. That you want to write a song, that is all of the inspiration you need, and putting your life or what you see in life and the way you feel in words is inspiration you turn into the lyric. My Lord saved me and gave me a reason to sing and write, so most of what I write about is Him. Sometimes I wrote about what He has done in my life song 28 "That's Enough About Me, sometimes I wrote about things that have happened in my life, other times it is just something off the wall that I think will bring laughter or a smile. I got inspiration from quotes, song 49 “Keep On Living” was inspired by this quote, “when life gives you a hundred reasons to cry live like you have a thousand reasons to smile.” Sometimes it was something I heard someone say, the 50th song was inspired by a fellow brother in Christ who was giving a message and he talked about his “constant need.” Bam the light came on and I thought that would be a great title for a song. Band in a Box is the perfect tool for the Challenge because you can go from lyric to full band accompaniment in just minutes. The hardest part for me is the mixing; getting everything to sound good in the mix, and that takes the longest of anything. I would suggest to all who would endeavor to do this, finish one song at a time, do not try to work on several at the same time. Try to do the best you can to finish one and move on, realize that time flies and you can go back when the challenge is over and correct mistakes you made and make a polished master later; the goal is to get a workable demo. Many folks at the challenge use only a guitar or piano, or ukulele some even do the work accapella, still others only post the lyrics and then look for people to collaborate and add music. I use Biab because it is just so easy to create a song in it. When you say 50 songs in 90 days it sounds daunting. Here is a breakdown of how you can do it, this was written by a fellow 5090er. The Challenge begins on July 4th and Ends October 1st.
Days July songs needed
0 4 0
7 11 4
14 18 8
21 25 12
August
28 1 16
35 8 20
42 15 24
49 22 28
56 29 32
September
63 5 36
70 12 40
77 19 44
84 26 48
October
90 1 50

One guy at the Challenge this year posted 241 songs, is that not amazing?!

This was the process I used, I wrote the lyrics on a program called lyricist and then put the chords in BiaB to add the music, I try to write the lyrics in the evening and then add music and post the next day,. It does not always work out that way. That is why I said before to make sure you work on one song at a time. The goal is to finish as many as you can, with the goal being 50. The good thing about the Challenge is it gives you a reason to make yourself write. Before I got in the Challenge I would sit and wait for “the magic inspiration” and From age 12 to 46 I had written around 70 songs, Then I joined 2 February Album Writing Months (Another Songwriting Challenge 14 Songs in 28 days or 141/2 when February has 29 days in it.)

Here is the Link FAWM

and 2 50/90 Challenges and in 2 year I have written over 150 songs. I had so much fun with the challenge I want to bring the challenge to you; write a song about the thing in your life that means the most to you. Post it as MY Challenge Song. You want inspiration? You got it! I look forward to hearing them. You have all the tools you need in Band in a Box and a piece of paper and a pencil or word processor on the computer, LOL. Have fun!
