Another Song with Lyrics from my Neighbour.

I was tasked with writing a song with the lyrics given to me (really difficult thing to do as you have no personal emotions attached to the lyrics)

Well here it is: The Northern Star

Lyrics

The Northern Star

In The Land Of The Midnight Sun
A Mother knitting Wove Her Dreams
Three Purple
Two Yellow
One Gold
A Wolf A Fox An Arctic Hare
Grey Seals And The Polar Bear
Into The Northern Hemisphere
Weaving A Northern Star

Did She Know How Far The Child Would Travel
Tracing Patterns
In The Footsteps Of The Pioneer
Three Purple
Two Yellow
One Gold
Needles Clicking
Lambs Bleating
Infant Sleeping
Singing Songs Of The Old Music Aurora
Weaving A Northern Star

Instrumental

Three Purple
Two Yellow
One Gold
Busy Weaving
Evening Spinning
Searching Dreaming
Moving Patterns In The Northern Sky
Weaving A Northern Star

In The Land Of The Midnight Sun
A Mother knitting Wove Her Dreams

George,

This was not an easy task you were given.

Ethereal story is how it struck me.

Your vocals and music both are matched most excellent
with the story.

Thanks for sharing your hard work! Good Job!

Very intriguing lyrics.

In headphones, the vocals are too far back in the mix for me to clearly hear. It might be different through speakers. You've picked some really lovely sounds from BIAB, but (to my ears) they compete with the vocals.

Nice arrangement! The second time listening, I could hear the harmony more clearly. You've mentioned that this was a difficult song for you to set, and I think you've done a really nice job. The melody comes across as a sort of Native American chant, which really suits the material.

It would have been nice to hear even more harmony on the chorus.

Good stuff.

Hi David,

I don't have headphones to try the song out with.
This probably doesn't help when mixing the intricate parts (hearing the slight faults)
I had the vocals further in the front but thought that they were too much in front so backed them off.

Thank you for listening and taking the time to comment.

In fact thanks to all who take a listen.
It is very much appreciated.

One thing I would like to find out is - What genre is this song? any ideas, I placed it in acoustic/folk but I really don't know.
