What is this, a Dutch song?
Yes, I decided to post a song in my native language for a change laugh
The song itself is actually quite old. The original recording was done on a Fostex 4 track cassette recorder in 1994.
I recorded this new 2014 Band in a Box version 2 days ago. The vocals were recorded with an AKG D 310 microphone.
The relatively short time it took to create this (approximately a total of 8 hours), and the improved quality is one of the many examples of the power of Band in a Box.
As a comparison I included the link to the original version at the end of this post.
If you're not Dutch, Belgian or German the lyrics probably won't make much sense. Therefore I included an English translation.

Original 1994 version

lyrics:

Nog een keer met jou

Hee, ga je niet mee? Ik wacht al zo lang
Woorden tekort

Eenmaal weg gekeken. Is eenmaal laten gaan
Maar je denkt toch telkens weer
Dat dan een ander je ziet staan
Zeg nu niet nee

Je was heel dichtbij. Maar toch niet van mij
Je hebt me niets willen zeggen
Toen was ik de koning te rijk. Maar nu ik terugkijk
Hoef je me niets meer uit te leggen

Ik neem met me mee wat ik niet vergeten kan
En ik zie mezelf als een ander
Als een ander

English translation:

One more time with you

hey, won't you come along? I've been waiting for so long
lost for words
just one more time with you. like it was back then.
as long as we were

cause once I'm alone I walk the empty streets
and I feel like someone else

sometimes no matter what I say, it always seems too late
to get your attention
for the first time in six years it seems so real
there's no replacing you

but I'm taking along all the things I can't forget
and I feel like everyone else

The minute I looked away is the moment you were gone
but you always think someone else will notice you
please don't say no

but I'm taking along all the things I can't forget
and I feel like everyone else

You were very close still you weren't mine
you didn't want to say
back then I felt like a king. but looking back now
there's no need to explain

but I'm taking along all the things I can't forget
and I feel like someone else
like someone else

Hope you like it,
regards,
Rob

Enjoyed the melody and phrasing and the fiddle. Very smooth and folky. Cheers.

both versions are excellent but I prefer the 1994 version
having used a TEAC 4 track cassette recorder myself.

Wonderful song

I really like this, especially the intriguing changes and the vocals, you have an excellent voice.
And well done on making such a finely engineered mixture of RealTracks.

Hi Rob. I really enjoyed this. Being from South African and Afrikaans being similar to Dutch I could pick up a few of the lyrics but was glad of the translation! Isn't it interesting what you can create in 8 hours using BIAB. I enjoyed both versions.

Nice production. You always do a good job and demonstrate a remarkable skill for choosing the right chord progressions and the right instruments to fit with your song.

Rob, I like the chord progression. Very unusual. Really nice melody and vocal. Good job on the mix and the real tracks. Tom

Hi Rob & Anne-Marie,

Terrific song and production. You have an excellent grasp of the powers and capabilities of BIAB. And you guys are are such good songwriters and vocalists. I (Alan) speak fairly good German and given the subtle similarities of the two languages, I was able to understand parts of the Dutch.

Very nicely done. We totally enjoyed our listen. great song!!!!!!

A good song is a good song regardless of what language it is sung!

This is a very good song!

Thanks everyone for your very kind comments. It was fun to post something in my own language for a change. In a way it's easier for us to compose in our own language, however we love the English language. We find it more subtle and melodic in a way.

Regards,
Rob
