Hi Nobilis - thank you for listening and your kind comment. Serene indeed!
Hi Floyd - glad you enjoyed it. Quite different to USA style pickin'.Very "scaley" in concept, it made it easy to put harmonies to it. Sad! -Duffys closed until the 25th! We'll starve!! Taking loads of sunscreen, my friend - NoAd 30.
Hi Dani, I can just see you smooch dancing with your new girlfriend to this! lol!
Hi Josie - thank you for being so kind. I'm not on these boards much these days for all sorts of reasons and I probably have missed lots of your lovely music and songs.
Hi Charlie - thank you for taking the time to listen.
cheers

Beautiful tone on this one Ian. Love it.

As for the Island, try the Rod and Reel Pier Restaurant at the North end of the island.

If you fish, get some large live shrimp and try for snook. They are huge down there, and the season is open now.

Hi Bob - glad you liked the sound.
Will try Rod n Reel Pier for sure. Last time (Sept/Oct 2012) we snacked at the City Pier. I believe it has undergone some work on the ouerhgead since. Don't fish but like to eat it. Lol!
Hi Guenter - thank you for your kind feedback. The tune has a sort of Music Box feel into it.
Cheers

The Rod and Reel is our favorite breakfast place.

"eat here" is an interesting place for dinner.

The Waterfront restaurant is excellent - nice selection of brews, there, too...

This is just beautiful!

Excellent lead and harmonies, anything more complicated would have ruined the mood IMHO. Very nice guitar tone also.

Outstanding! Lead, harmony, choice of RT's and the mix. A cool showcase of what a talented musician can do with RT support. Enjoyed it.

Hi Floyd
Great info. Did you know Rod & Reel Pier has a streaming live webcam on it? We tune in most days. We followed the rebuilding of the Pierhead building (where the Restaurant is) over the Winter and be sure we'll do breakfast there.
Hi Mario, thanks for the kind feedback. Its pretty much the KISS principle here - more would have got in the way, I think.
Hi Janice and Bud - The base mid style was just right and all it needed was the two RTs to give it that Musical Box feel and a change to the Hi-Q midi guitar as the one in the Style was a bit clunky sounding. Glad you enjoyed it friends.

Wow Ian,

This is beautiful! Produced with subtlety.
The harmonies on the lead guitar work magically.

Beautiful song. Love your sound

Really pretty!!! Guitar playing is sweet, as is the composition! I wasn't aware of your "block" but if it's the standard writer's block, my advice is: Just do anything. Sometimes people get trapped by the last project, or the last one they felt good about. I think each song is just a step along the journey, and it gets you to the next one. That said, I suffer with the same issues myself at times and am not great at taking my own advice. Take care. Greg

Hi Greg
thank you for the encouragement. I think the block was caused by being unable to play for a while due to a badly burned hand and cut. Couldnt touch the guitar. I just kinda lost the momentum.
Hopefully I'll get some ideas on vacation.
Best to you, my friend.

Excellent song and performed well. A very nice and gentle composition. Enjoy listening to the sound of the guitar, each note was played very precisely and clear but you was able to retain the feel of the song.
Posted By: sixchannel Re: THE MAGIC WALTZ - 09/13/14 08:36 AM
Hi Jim
Thanks for the comments. Yes, the tune needed quite precise picking to keep with that Musical Box feel. No room for my usual slides, bends and dips - I.e. mistakes! Lol!

Great stuff Ian, a beautiful song immaculately played. It sounds like you've spent a lifetime perfecting that Hank sound! Nicely recorded too.

Your playing reminds me of Ian McCutcheon's - being such a Shadows fan you must have encountered him along the way? We used to be neighbours in the 60s in Kenilworth, although he went the Hank route and I went the Jeff Beck route back then!

HI Ian ...

What a pretty song! So many times when excessive reverb is used, it cheapens the sound of a song ... makes it sound cheesy. That's not the case here. It brings a whole new dynamic to a song. loved every note of this. the guitar playing is excellent ... very clean. Lovely song and fabulous listen.

Have fun in Florida!

Magic song, magic guitar – wish you a great vacation, a magic and waltzing vacation! :-)

Hi John
Jeff who? Lol!
Thanks for your feedback.
Its a Hank spec Strat and I guess it does give "that sound" to this track but is quite a versatile guitar, tonewise.
I know Mac well - we both play at the Warwick Club.

Hi Al and Di
Thanks for listening and your interesting feedback.
Oversoaking with the reverb can ruin many a good tune, but was intentional here to get that "tinkly" musical box sound. Glad you liked it.
I hope Di's health is improving.
Cheers
Ian
PS - arrived Longboat Key safely. Chillin' nicely in 90f!!! Lol!

Hi Ian,

Exquisite work on every possible level. Your arrangement, your playing, your musicianship gleam. I compliment Ernie, too. He has an amazing sense of melody and harmony. He's really written something very special here.

All in all, this is definitely world class music.

All the best,
Noel
