Hi gang, this is my first song of this year. Just received my everything package about a week ago. I think that the HQ piano I used on this one is a new one (not sure anymore, too many of them (a good thing though). This is a bluesy tune inspired by the 40th anniversary of the SNL show that was on last Sunday. I tried to re-create the sound of the great Lenny Pickett on sax and the signature end of the show tunes. Hope you all like it.

Very nice song. Relaxing. Sax was excellent

Can hear this one playing as the show goes off! Love the horn; great work; just needs more cowbell; LOL! thanks for sharing!

Hi there Mike,

I think the saxophone is kind of rough for this groove.
However, the groove itself is very good! Real drums sound as good as they get.
Very nice work!

Mike,

I always enjoy your stuff. It always seems you put a lot of thought into your productions. The sax is very much like the SNL go-to-commercial things...

The swirling brush on the snare seems much too loud, though... a bit distracting...

Nice and laid back Mike, raunchy sax playing, bluesy throughout too!

I think you captured the sound and style you were looking for, no worries about that.

Mike,

The closing theme of SNL has always been a favorite of mine. You've captured the feeling of that theme pretty good.

Thanks for sharing and the good listen.

I always look forward to your posts. This is another good one. I really liked the piano on this song. Enjoyed the song from start to finish.

Hi guys, my most humble thanks to you all, I really mean that. Coming from such a collection of fine musicians is a real treat.
Floyd, I agree with you on the brush issue, I applied some compression to the drums and didn't pay much attention to the volume. I'll correct that. Thanks for the observation.

Hey Mike, I agree with floyd. I always like your posts. This one has a bit of a problem to my ears. The swirling brush is overpowering. I listened several times last night and thought I would check it today with different headphones. Same result. I am afraid it really takes away from an otherwise nice production. I don't think I have ever been critical of your work before, but I gotta tell you what I hear. All the best, Tom
