An acquaintance from France plays the banjolele which is a type of four string banjo. He's had the banjolele for less than a month and has created a few tracks. I use Band-in-a-Box to add backing tracks behind his playing. There are several selections on SoundCloud but the latest is called ++ Rodeo ++

Nice. The backing tracks give it an Americana, folksy feel.

Enjoyed it.

Hey Jim,

That's a great listen! Sounds like everyone had a truckload of fun putting this together. I've never heard of a banjolele before. It's a terrific sound!

Regards,
Noel

Jim,

A friend has a banjolele but I have never played it.
I discovered years back that there are French cowboys in La Camargue district of France when I used to take my holidays in Aix en Provence, never saw one tho'

A good fun tune, give your friend a bit of time to practice and hey you may have created a new genre cool

A short but fun listen

As a bluegrass picker for the last 40+ years I've never
heard of this instrument. That is a cool way to present it.

Thanks the listen and exposing this ole phart to something
new!

Nice work Jim. I like this kind of stuff. It was a good listen.

I think I heard someone say "pass the jug"...lol

Well, I think shine still exist up there in NC.

I am requesting you and your banjo buddy to write a song called " Fire in A Mason Jar" and when the jar is empty I'll put a tip in it ...lol

Best wishes,

Billy

++ HERE ++ is a link to the Wilkipedia banjolele article.

The banjolele player is a member of another forum I frequent. He and some other forum members like the tracks Band-in-a-Box is creating but don't like my mix, or the drum track, electric bass instead of acoustic bass, etc. I've posted the original BiaB tracks and some alternate tracks and several members are doing remixes.

It has created some very positive comments about how quick and easy Band-in-a-Box has delivered high quality audio tracks. Several have remarked at how much BiaB has progressed since the last time they looked at it. smile

Band In A Box today and the Band In A Box I was exposed to years ago have little in common as far as what it sounds like today.

Until I took the time to look at what existed in this type of software I assumed this product would not be of value to me.

I could not have been more wrong. This is one of the most useful tools I have found to work with in a very long time.

"When the pupil is ready, the Master will appear"

This statement, what ever it's origin, has been true for me in many things I have been involved with in my life.

I guess this is the universe's implementation of "just in time delivery"...lol

Cheers,

Billy

This sounds great. I'll bet that this was a fun song to put together.

I have never heard of it being called a banjolele but here is a picture of my over 100 year old banjo uke. It is all original. It was my aunt's. She gave it to my mother and she gave it to me. There is no id on it but it may have come from Italy, don't know.
