"Canon of Flowers" (instrumental)
7 of 7 - Tangled Roots Project

This is the seventh and final track of my Tangled Roots project. There's something about a waltz that I find very sweet, thinking about being the last couple in a bar and gliding around not wanting to leave. This piece is a mix of acoustic instruments, and gave me a chance to put together some string section parts.

To everyone who listened to these tracks and to those who commented, I thank you all. Music is made to be shared.

Intriguing and ingeniously put together Michael. Very musical.
I was easily drawn through each of the satisfying changes, nice work!

Michael,

Another INTERESTING listen. Your instruments seem to morph from one to the next. It must take a lot of patience to mix these..

I do hope you continue your journey...

John

I agree with the sentiments above.
I particularly like the bass intro.

Nice work, Michael.

It wouldn't fit in this one, but I missed hearing the saxophone.

Looking forward to your next project!

Thanks very much to Guenter, John, Floyd, Rob, and Curt!

Curt, I could not figure out a way to work horns into this one smile There's a band that plays around here that is Drums, acoustic bass, and some horns, and I would like to try a piece in that format, or something similar or close. We'll see...

Someday I'd like to try writing a song, you know with lyrics and a singer (which would definitely not be me)! A lot of you folks on the forum here do this with apparent ease and talent, so I'll keep listening here for inspiration.

In any case, thanks to you all for listening and the kind comments!

A unique piece but it all flowed seamlessly together. I enjoyed my listen.

Quite impressive. This is first I've heard of your project and this one is quite nice. Excellent flow. How long did it take you to put this together? Very enjoyable.

Great job of getting those waltz
and ev RT's to work together so
well. It is interesting, enjoyable
and obviously took a lot of thought.

Yes, good flow and well thought out

I enjoyed it very much

also I like how you got the drums going in and out, just a super touch. It gives the song a warm lyrical narrative emphasis. When they stop I feel a strong "stop and look closer" at the character moment. Then the drums come back and the train moves forward again. And the repetition of this throughout the whole song is fascinating.

I appreciate that. One of the things that some people are prone to do is to take their 8 layers of instruments, start them all at the beginning, and run them all straight through to the end. The dynamics and arc of a composition are enhanced by NOT just doing that - which involves thought, planning, and work, usually lots!

Very pleasant piece of music Michael!! A bit more low key than some of the others. Well constructed musically. I really like the resonator in this tune. You've done some great stuff on this project! Take care. Greg
