What I Miss About You

I wrote this song between 2008-2010, but I had difficulties to find a satisfying arrangement. But everytime new realtracks have been released, the arrangement has gone a big leap forward. Hopefully this is the final version. Fellow BIAB users Rob and Anne-Marie (RnAM) added the vocals and did the final mix, thanks to them for their excellent work. Rob's voice really turned this into a catchy pop song; and the backing vocals in the chorus are stunning. All comments welcome!

Lyrics:

A blackbird singing outside
the pond unbroken fragile
the courtship is seductive
in a dream we are
walking down the aisle.
In reality I can't hurry love
effusive eagerness for flare
it is dangerous walking on thin ice
I should not taste a dawning pear.

What I miss about you
is the spark
when we kissed
at the heavenly hills.
I can never forget about you
how you got excited over
few little thrills
the last waltz hurts on repeat.

A car is waiting outside
you have packed your bookshelves
you have torn the signs down
all the wallpaper
that we picked ourselves.
Praying is futile I can't drag out love
I can't stop the train of mind
can't put back the water of a broken dam
life has no fast forward or rewind.

What I miss...

In eternity
between the rising and falling
between the waiting and longing
for a fraction of a second
we met pure hearted
no abstaining
like never departed
like never departed.

What I miss...

Janne

Well, you certainly managed to find the realtracks that worked now. Great lyrics.

Rob and Anne-Marie have presented it perfectly.

Great job.

This is a really nice production and the vocals are great. I would cut the last bass notes at the end though. It seems like the song is over by then. I really like this a lot though. Great job.

Hi Janne,

great arrangement. But the icing on the cake are
the vocals and harmonies by Rob and Anne-Marie.
I enjoyed my listen.

Thanks for giving positive feedback Videotrack, David, Charlie, Guenter, Peter, Noel, Sonny smile I'm glad to hear you liked the production and those excellent singers smile
Rob & Anne-Marie, you are true professionals, I really hope that one day I have another song ready for you to sing smile

David, I added those last bass notes deliberately, because I felt that the ending was lacking something without them. But maybe something else would have worked better...

Great melody as usual Jannesan.
Very well mixing.

Great Rob & Marie too.
That's been a beautiful collaboration.

Just a thing to say: how could I place the song in my preferite on soundcloud?
Jannesan can you please post it there?

Really interesting song musically and lyrically!! I like the mystique in the style, and Rob does a great job with that kind of vocal. Really well done-haunting and emotional! Take care. Greg

Thanks Greg for your nice and interesting comment! Yes, BIAB really brought some mystique into the song and thus probably affected the lyrics also. And Rob's great voice combined nicely the mystique with pop sound smile
