Morning Sky
© 2015 K Leverett

See the stars touching the morning sky
Looking up as they fade from sight
I can’t sleep I can’t stop my mind
Or the stars from touching the morning sky

Middle of nowhere
With nowhere else to go
You and me out
Out on a lonely road
Silhouettes of
Of the swaying trees
All the best of
The best of my memories

See the stars touching the morning sky
Looking up as they fade from sight
I can’t sleep I can’t stop my mind
Or the stars from touching the morning sky

My thoughts go back now
Like it was a dream
I heard laughter I could hear you sing
Everything that
That I could wish for
Was as near as
As near as a falling star

See the stars touching the morning sky
Looking up as they fade from sight
I can’t sleep I can’t stop my mind
Or the stars from touching the morning sky

Time is a comet
Burning across the sky
Make it stop
Before we must say goodbye

Kenny,

Man! this is SO well done! I love it. What a beautiful song!

Hard not to think...James Taylor. And, better than that... EARLY James Taylor... it doesn't get much better than that...

And yet... your vocal (one of your BEST! - and I always like your vocals) really reminds me of Livingston Taylor (James' brother). I'm sure you weren't trying to "capture" Livingston...but, Boy! did you!.

I listened a bunch of times. Golly this is good!

The tracks were so well done that I didn't even think about them (until afterwards). Perfect. The background vocals were sweet - subtle - also perfect....

Big time kudos for this. Beautiful song. Beautiful production. Beautiful vocal.

One of the best things I've ever heard here....

Floyd got it to a Tee, as he usually does. Just beautiful Kenny!! I can hear the Taylor vibe (I'm probably one of the dozen greatest JT fans in existence). I also caught sort of a Cool Easy Feeling vibe. As Floyd said, your vocals have never been better. There is an honesty and humanity to your writing which is very rare. I'm a huge fan!! Take care. A really pretty tune well composed and I could hear some Kames Taylor as well.

very nice job on this, Kenny! As others have said, it really is a pretty song!

Kenny, sorry if I didn't use the good word. In french "Attaquer" means "Assault" or "Start" as well. E.g, "attaquer un travail" means "to start a job" smile

Yes, the Apple Records period. And as floyd also mentioned "Livingston Taylor"...been a long time since we've thought of him but, again, yes!

"Middle of nowhere

Of the swaying trees

Incredible imagery, wonderful vocal and an extremely well put together production. The steel was perfect. A pretty and optimistic song yet your vocal offers a hint of yearning that just nails it.

Great listen!

Thanks guys,

I appreciate your bringing attention to the lyrics, I concentrated on imagery throughout this song, it's pretty much all visual scenes. Thanks,
Kenny

Janice and I stopped by for another listen. Dunno if you ever
heard of or listened to Slaid Cleaves (one of our favorites) but
we were reminded of him as your voice has a similar timbre.

Fine tune!
