Time is like the ocean it will not bend to your call
The lines upon your face is your journey time tells
Our lives are but times circles what goes comes again
Hey old man time Oh old man time
I’m counting all my sunsets the length of my days but time it counts for nothing just goes on its old ways

For I am just the dust time made and time will blow away
I paid for my wisdom as time turned my hair to grey
Our lives are but times circle what goes comes again
hey old man time cant slow old man time

Don’t try and seek for more time the lengthen of your days times a taker not a giver he will not change his ways
He will be here when earth crumbles and the stars they burn away he has seen all our tomorrows as he saw our yesterdays
So find the time to love for where it goes it stays that’s one chain unbroken that time cannot erase

Our lives are but times circle what goes comes again
So find the time to love for where it goes it stays the one chain unbroken that time cannot erase

So find the time to love for where it goes it stays the one chain unbroken that time cannot erase

I really like this. Excellent all the way around. I especially liked the vocals.

Really nice job on this Paddy!! Arrangement is perfect, and fiddle is very sweet. Great concept with the personification of time. Nice heartfelt vocal. Great all the way around! You should check out "Time the conqueror" by Jackson Browne-cool song, similar theme. Take care. Greg

"Time is like the ocean it will not bend to your call"

A good opening, Paddy.

Good to hear another from you.

PaddyG,
if not for the actual country feel I'd has sworn this was Tom Rapp from the cult legendary Pearls Before Swine - late 60s psych band.
Lovely stuff.
Lyrics are a cautionary tale that needs to be told again & again in as many ways as possible.
Here's a link to my rather more bombastic take on the topi, (please do not feel compelled to follow the link - just a contrast for me on the topic at hand).

Hi Paddy,

Let me quote Greg, because he expresses my thoughts perfectly: "Really nice job on this Paddy!! Arrangement is perfect, and fiddle is very sweet. Great concept with the personification of time. Nice heartfelt vocal. Great all the way around!"
Enjoyable listen.

Enjoyed my listen.

Hi Paddy,

Your songs remind me of the folk music here in the states that was so prevalent in the 60s. You strike me as a Dylanesque poet, writing relatively uncomplex tunes that let your more complex lyrics breathe.

Like so many of the songs from that era, your songs have consistently made me stop and think... (that's a good thing!)

I'm so glad you joined the forum, as I think you bring something unique to the equation. I like your songs.

Simply a great song, sounds like folk music is very similar all around the world. Who did you listen to growing up.
