A Traveler

I have received several comments how my songs remind of Pink Floyd and Alan Parsons so I tried to make a song with more feel of those artists. Although the song is long, I have tried to keep the song interesting with instrument variation and a tempo change. There is also a chord progression which is used throughout the song, but with melody only in the end. Lyrics are inspired by the unique beauty of our planet.

Thanks to Band-in-a-box for making it so easy to realize musical visions, Vocaloid for testing the lyrical flow and RnAM for once more giving their excellent talent for my use.

Lyrics:

Once I was a traveler
sailing through the clouds
of the young universe
Son, I have seen the worse,
sandstorms, huge rocks dispersed.
But there was a special place
forgotten paradise
a flourishing embrace
in the middle of dust and ice.

In a drifting space craft
a traveler and his child
a half-finished guidebook
to the finest pearls in the wild.

Now, I'm a wanderer
looking at the trail
of a lone asteroid.
Son, there are other orbs
that are warm
but they won't fill this void.
The locals called it Earth
the pasture of my psalm
the valley of your birth
a jewel laid on my palm.

In a drifting...

I had met a girl before the dusk began
drought, pollution stained the precious of a man.
Her appreciation of divine creation
helped me through the wait in vain
for the saving rain.

Wish I could show you her grave
she was the reason to stay
the last rose in my bouquet.

In a drifting...

Things the years have left are these
fading memories
stories of a traveler to share
from a father to an heir
old wisdom
the tree of life
to respect and care.

I recall the skies in royal blue
I recall the leaves in every hue
I recall the woods in luscious green
I recall the lakes were pristine clean
I recall the snow in virgin white
rainbows in the spectre of light.

Janne,

What an effort! I have no idea how to begin writing a 7.5 minute song! Rob and Anne-Marie have really done your work justice! The vocaloid is an interesting touch.

I'm sitting here really liking what I'm hearing. You have given your all to create this. It must have been an exhausting effort!

All the best,
Noel

Quite an epic - liked the time changes and the variations. A real progressive rock composition.
Well written and performed. Interesting use of Vocaloid.

Thanks Noel for your kind words. Well, the mixing and writing the lyrics were the biggest effort, sometimes it happens that there are so many ideas for melody/chords that it is easy to reach the 7 minute limit smile

First of all, it was very nice to work with Janne again.
This song was special in many ways, first the length of the song was a challenge.
Then there was the syncing with the vocaloid that was a true challenge for Anne-Marie.
Janne usually sends us his songs with the vocaloid as a singing example.
Now at the end of the song you can hear how good he is with programming it!

This is a MAGNUM OPUS!! So well done in every way. Rob did a great job on the vocal. I absolutely love the musical changes in the chorus-BEAUTIFUL!! This is an incredible accomplishment. AWESOME! Take care. Greg

Flashback to the old FM radio days when a song could be over 3 minutes. This was as good as and better than many songs I have heard.

It takes a lot to keep me interested for 7.5 minutes but you did it perfectly. Everything about this is top shelf for sure. You vocal was exceptional, your backing tracks perfect, RnAM fit perfectly and your lyrics were great. Loved he tempo changes.

This is a keeper.

Thanks Rob & Anne-Marie for your kind comment and of course the excellent work you have done smile By the way, you don't have to replicate the vocaloid singing exactly, you can always make your own interpretation smile

I really loved everything about this. The song, the arrangement, the wonderful lyrics, the great vocals.

Beautiful work by you. Super vocal by RNaM
I can hear much Alan Parson influence than Pink Floyd.

Great work and super arrangement.

Thanks Janice & Bud for commenting, the writing and mixing process took about 1.5 months so if time equals hard work then maybe wink. Anyway, I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it smile
