Many of my songs are 80s inspired, this one in particular. (since nostalgia is kinda in fashion at the moment on the forum ;-)) You'll be hearing influences of artists such as: David Bowie. And the pre-chorus sounds a little like C(ock) Robin (sorry 'bout the parens, but the name was censored by PG ) and my all-time 80s favorite: Talk Talk (which is particularly audible at 2.11). For the video (among other things) I used to beautiful DAZ 3d model Jayda. Anne-Marie helped editing the video.
Any comments are welcome.

Wow, you sound REALLY 80s when your voice drops into those lower registers! Very Erasure, or OMD, or something. This is awesome, though -- I really really love the chorus, super sing-alongable. The outra guitar solo killer too. And so is the video!!! Ok, I'll stop now -- but great job!!!
I`d forgotten how much I enjoyed this kind of sound ( OMD were a big favourite ).I think you made it your own here - I`ve been waiting to hear that Dire guitar solo shine in the right song. Your vocal is so smoothly good on this and the video very creative. Several listens.
Yes, I can hear the 80's all over this, and it sounds great!! Fantastic production, and incredible vocal. You are at the top of your game on this one Rob. Very good stuff! Take care. Greg
Like others said, this tune is filled with the 80's. And I also feel the fragrance of European Pops. The clean guitars of interlude are very pleasant. Your soft vocal and the production are stunning. Enjoyed my listen a lot.
Wow, what a great job you have done to capture the sound of the 80s! Your vocal always impresses and this is no different.
I listened a few times and just wrote down a few thoughts that came into my head--
- Chorus - very Bowie'esque vocals - General vocal sound - Also reminded me of Morten Harket (Aha) - Love the minimalist backing with the airy synth and strong drum/synth bass beat. Erasure and Talk Talk came to mind. - Video was a perfect fit for the song (well done to you and Ann-Marie for this). - "Dire" guitar solo ending was unexpected and very enjoyable (must look up that RT myself).
OMD is definitely also one of my favourites of the 80s. About the Dire soloist, I've used it once before in a Dire Straits like song. In this case it was the only one that worked
We were both lost to blues and bluegrass in the 80's so we're lacking in much knowledge of the genre; however we are not lost to the appreciation of a fine production. Particularly when it is driven by such a creative arrangement. And we weren't such hermits that we are not able to hear the Bowie vibe.
The vocals and the solo guitar are spectacular. Oh, and the video was perfect.
I will wrap this one up, don't want to clutter up the forum, especially since we've got a new one coming up for Veterans Day.
