Hello Peeps,

On this new tune, I came up with a cool acoustic guitar lick, but I didn't know what to do with it. This was truly a case where the Band in a Box Style helped me interpret my idea and truly "bring it to life"--both sonically and arrangement wise.

More and more I find BIAB to be a songwriting "partner" and composing tool. There are deep wells of endless fascination in this amazing product for sure.

Hope you dig it. Three wild guesses what it is about.

Where the Water is Clean
By David Snyder

V1

Well I’m putting on my coat
And I’m leaving everything
Cause I got to find a place
Where the water is clean
Going to run across that mountain top
Until I find the silver stream
Got to find that place
That looks a lot more like my dreams

CH:

And I know somebody down here
Knows exactly what I mean
Yeah I can see a little boy and girl
Looking through a front porch screen
And they know they got to find a place
Where the water is clean
Yeah they know they got to find a place
That looks a lot more like their dreams

V2

Gonna sing the music of my heart
Gonna sing the music of my soul
Cause the angels they have lifted me
Above the heresy below, this circus show

CH:

And I know somebody down here
Knows exactly what I mean
Gonna run across that mountain top
Until I find that silver stream
We all we got to find a place
That looks a lot more like our dreams

Coda:

Oooh, oooh

We all got to find a place
where the water is clean
We all got to find a place
That looks a lot more like our dreams
We all got to find a place
That looks a lot more like our dreams

David

You got a big sound going with this one. Nice guitar parts - and a pretty progression.
Strong songwriting.

Super cool song, David.

Nice "sound"... well mixed... perfect for the write. Sung with conviction.

The write reminded me of Neil Young mixed with a little help from Stephen Stills... in the days when they were doing good, heady stuff....

Super!

Murky waters. For years to come... but don't stop dreaming...

David,

Very good!
I enjoyed the gentleness and conviction of the lyrics.
Those guitars really make a cool backing and I can also hear some CSN&Y in that sound.
Can we get started on the Welcome banner up here in the Great White North?

David,

As I wrote on Soundcloud, the guitar backing created an atmosphere that made me think of "Everybody's Talkin' At Me" from Midnight Cowboy. I really like the sound you've discovered with this production and the sense of longing that it creates. You've done a great job putting this together.

Yet another notch in your songwriting belt!

Regards,
Noel

David you sometimes say a hell of a lot with very little. I know somebody down here knows exactly what you mean. Me for a start
As Peter says, big sound going on here. Big song all round.

Brilliant

Great feel right from the first note.

Well thought-out lyrics

The style choice was excellent.

Floyd said it: sounds like Neil Young ( one of my favorites of the 70s and 80s).
Nice Full sound on the mix. Man are you productive ;-)

David, You found the longing sound you needed to compliment the write. Nice vocal and well mixed. Nothing ever happens unless you dream it first. I liked it a lot. Tom

Really cool song!! Gets better the longer you listen to it. Some interesting harmonic stuff going on, and a very passionate vocal. On first listen, it struck me that the lyric in the chorus could be delivered on every musical phrase for the first 2-4 lines to give more variety to it rhythmically. However, it works great the way it is too. Wonderful listen!! Take care. Greg

Robert,

Thank you! Yes, I am on my way. I wrote to PG Music about a hundred times and said I felt I qualified for dual citizenship now, but so far, I have not received it, so I just started walking.

It has been a long walk man. Any idea how much longer I have?

Hell yeah, we're ready to go!

We'll only add that the mix sounds amazing on our monitors. Full soundstage. Everything has it's place. Mesmerizing.

Great piece of work here!

Love to hear this! (read this?)

This song really came together - love the lyrics, and I'm a huge fan of the "Guitar, Acoustic, Fingerpicking Songwriter16ths Ev16 075" used smile

David, the music is perfect for the message and the message is delivered from the soul! My guess about this tune is that we mere mortals seem to always mess up a potential Utopia! One day, maybe beyond this temporary existence we will find it. I'm rambling though. God Bless, Torrey.

Hi David,

I'm glad that BIAB helped you to interpret your idea because you ended up with a great song.
I love that acoustic jangle that runs the length of the song - gives it a beautiful ethereal quality.
Your lyric and vocal are also up to their usual high standard. Nice ending on the 4th.

Great job,
Jez
