Soundcloud: Safe From The Storm

Hi.

A chill out, relaxing instrumental with a slightly sad feel but uplifting in a way.

This uses the BIAB New Age Style as well as EWQL instruments including the violin from the "Gypsy" collection.

Rain and thunder loop from BIAB, otherwise all MIDI and VSti (except the drums I think).

Mixed in FL Studio and mastered in Audacity.

Cheers.
Mike

Mike,

Sad is good when it sounds as elegant and relaxing as this.
Very enjoyable music - really nice use of the EW strings.

This is a lovely, moody piece, Mike. Goes really well with this late-November rain we're having over here smile It sounds quite amazing, too -- you mastered this in Audacity?!?

Thanks Will - much appreciated.

When I say Mastered, more of normalized and I sometimes add a little Audacity compression.

It comes out of FL Studio pretty well formed and the EWQL VSTi have a great quality but I just (lightly) polish the wave in Audacity and render to mp3 from there, because it is so simple to do.

Regards.

Beautifully done Mike!! Melody is simple but so sweet you never get tired of it. Arrangement is perfect for this piece and that solo violin is amazingly good. Loved it!! Take care. Greg

For sure. It sounds nicely mastered, anyways! I guess every little bit helps, right smile

Mastered in Audacity. smile

Yeah, me too. I generally use Ozone 5 in my output master bus but tend to use Ozone 6 less and less on "Masters" these days because it seems "too much." Things can start sounding artificial and thin real fast if you are not careful. I get stuff sounding nice and warm with minimal track Eq-ing then use a little Ozone 5, and then do finishing touches in....

<gasp>

Audacity!!!!

Cheers mate!! Lovely song!!

smile

P.S. I have sometimes used my fully functional TEAC 4 track reel to reel for final masters when I really want to go old school, but I better shut up now.

Hi Mike,

A pleasant and relaxing listen. I like the EWQL sounds you've used. Everything sounds well mixed to me on my headphones this morning.
