LYRYCS

Without You
c.Bob Buford, 2016

Sweet words of love
A voice soft as mist
From sweet tender lips
That long to be kissed.
Girl, I could never
Spend my whole life through
And ever know love
Without you.

Since I first met you
My whole life has changed
My thoughts and desires
Are all rearranged
There’s nothing you’d ask me
Baby, I wouldn’t do
Love has no meaning
Without you.

CHORUS
Without you
My nights are endless
And my heart is so alone
I just can’t sleep for thinking
Your the sweetest love I’ve known

Without you
To hold me close, girl
And love me like you do
I can’t imagine me, babe
Without you

<INSTRUMENTAL BREAK>

VERSE
We’ve had our lovers
Heartache and pain
That space where your heart was
You just can’t explain
But I’ll be here for you
Til you say we’re through
My heart would be breaking
Without you.

We both believe it
Our love’s meant to be
You know in your heart, babe
You should be with me
Cause No one can love you
The way that that I do
And nothing else matters
Without you

Well, this is the third song of yours I have heard and this is my favorite (so far smile )

Love the lyrics, and your vocal is very good indeed.

And of course I'm digging the guitar, fabulous sound and very tasteful playing.

Great song Bob, sounds like a hit to me.

Bob this is sooo romantic. I love all the little touches with the instruments in the arrangement, and there's the vocal, the guitar lead, the lyrics...

Beautiful. My new fav of yours!

Bob,

This is a really professional production!
At times this kinda reminded us of Chris Isaak, that should be a compliment laugh

Bob,

I echo those picking this as a favourite of yours- a fine heartfelt ballad.
Its really interesting to hear a shining example of the mixing skills you outlined in another forum... there`s a clarity and space in your production that even a newbie can hear.
Oh, and that guitar is some pretty tasty icing.

Hi Robert,

Sounds like you've really developed a strong "listening" skill there. Good for you. Hope my article helped a bit.

Thanks, cool

I picked up the same vibe. You've got a great style!! This is my fave so far. You probably know the song Without You by Hamm/Evans. If you don't, check out Nilssen's version. Wonderful job on this!! BTW, what is your vocal chain? Sounds great!! Take care. Greg

Thank goodness titles aren't copyrightable. grin The Dixie Chicks also had a song of the same title. There are probably many more I'm not aware of. But hey, that's showbiz.

On this particular song the Rode mic went into a Yamaha AW4416 mixer/recorder and then into the DAW. No compression, no EQ, no effects. I'm big on keeping things as clean and simple as possible and delivering the most perfect vocal performance possible on the front end. Only then do we apply any effects. Vocal has some reverb and the entire mix is slightly compressed. Other than that...only mixing.

Thanks for listening,
Bob

Hi Bob,

Really enjoyed this.

Fantastic production - the vocals just soar! Up there with the best.
Great guitar sounds too - both the solo and tremelo Tele.

Always been fascinated by B benders after seeing Albert Lee use one live.
Didn't hear it in use on this track (unless I missed it).
Do you have any tracks on SoundCloud where you use it?

Cheers,
Jez

Hey Jez,

Thanks for the nice comments. Pleased you enjoyed the song. I don't have that Tele anymore. Although I did use it on a few songs. I can't point to a specific song where I actually used it to bend notes. I use my hands to create pedal steel effects which creates more variety. The B-bender is a one-trick pony since it only bends the B string up a whole tone. Kinda boring. The guitar is VERY heavy because of all the extra parts inside, which I think contributes to the massive sustain it has. I would never play it onstage because of the weight.

Thanks for listening,
Bob

Bob,

This is top notch... writing, arranging, performing. The production is outstanding in every way and your singing is the icing on a really impressive cake. I thoroughly enjoyed this... you took me places as I listened. You are very competent at what you do!

Bob, you did a great job here! You have a very good country voice. For some reason you made me think of Steve Wariner. I bet you could do a great job on some of the country classics! Great guitar in the middle. Take care, Torrey

Hey Torrey...thanks for your comments. I love Steve Wariner's music, and what a great guitar player! Check my SoundCloud page for some classic country covers.

Well, as a newbie, I particularly enjoyed the complimentarity of your voice and the baritone of the guitar, both with so much feeling.
