LYRICS:

Colorado Cowboy Christmas
© 2016 Bob Buford

Grandpa bought this old sleigh, back in 1892,
Straight from Sears and Roebuck, It’s just about right for two
We got a feed sack full of presents, a rack of antlers on the prow
Big white balls on my cowboy hat, Man, we’re havin’ some fun now.

Oh, it’s a Colorado Cowboy Christmas, on the Rocky Mountain plains
No reindeer around, just some elk we found, so we hooked ‘em up to the reins
We’ll be hittin’ every town and farmhouse, and spreadin’ Christmas cheer
Got a turkey made of Spam, a Safeway ham, and a case of cold Coors beer.

Folks back there in Denver, they think we’ve lost our minds
Cause Christmas time in the country, ain’t exactly the traditional kind
We put lights on the tree in our front yard, and we crowd around a roastin’ hog
Tell our jokes, with our hand-rolled smokes, and a pack of old hunting dogs

Yeah, it’s a Colorado Cowboy Christmas, on the Rocky Mountain plains
No reindeer around, just some elk we found, so we hooked him to the reins
We’ll be hittin’ every town and farmhouse, between here and the county line
Puttin’ on a show, as we crash through the snow, with our box of cheap red wine.

Yeah, It’s a Colorado Cowboy Christmas, on the Rocky Mountain plains
No reindeer around, just some elk we found, so we hooked him up to the reins
We’ll be hittin’ every town and farmhouse, and spreadin’ Christmas cheer
We’ll have stories to tell all the winter long until we’ll do it all again next year,
We’ll have stories to tell all the winter long and then we’ll do it all again next year.

Hi Bob Buford, Very rockin' Tune! - Love the slapback vocal effect you applied. Fun lyrics too! Well done! smile

Bob,

Great fun! Very nice sound to the swing guitars and really good lyrics... think I`ll pass on the roast hog, but otherwise a Colorado Christmas sounds fine.

Thank you, gentlemen. Glad you enjoyed it. Robert, I finished off your share of the hog so no worries. grin Oh yeah, and your share of the Coors too.

Hey Scott...thanks man. Glad you liked it. It was just such a fun project to do. I kept laughing when I was trying to track the vocal; I thought I wouldn't get it finished. Wish they were all this much fun.

Fun song Bob!! I particularly likee:

Got a turkey made of Spam, a Safeway ham, and a case of cold Coors beer.

This is very well done-written right and delivered with the right kind of attitude. Good stuff!! Take care. Greg

Hey Greg...I've actually seen a turkey made of Spam. Not sure why anyone would think that's a good idea. But apparently people sculpt a lot of things out of Spam. Seemed appropriate for the song. grin

Thanks for listening. Merry Christmas,
Bob

Hard to go wrong with some country swing!

Takes us back to the cowboy vibe that surrounds Steamboat Springs where we used to spend some time.

The "fun-nes factor" oozes right on through this.

Cool production -- really like the vocal and effects.

Enjoyed the spin,

J&B

Thanks, J&B (Wow..."J&B"...just had a college flashback!)

Yea nothin' says "cowboy" like 240" of snow! And Steamboat's got it. You could lose a whole herd in there.

Thanks for listening, grin

Bob,

This is excellent! Very entertaining lyrics and an enthusiastic, infectious toe-tapping melody/arrangement. The spoken bits are the icing on a really great Christmas cake. To my ears, this sounded professional all the way.

All the best that December and 2017 can bring for you.
Noel

Yep ... yee-how! Loved it ... great little Country Christmas tune. We loved it - a bunch!

I (Alan) lived in Denver for 5 years back in the late 70s. Still own 5.3 acres near Cripple Creek. Merry Christmas and hoping 2017 treats you terrific!

Honest, Noel...I swear we weren't drinking (or anything else...I mean this IS Colorado after all) when we made this. But it was a pretty laid back project. The lyrics made it so much fun to sing.

Thanks for listening,
Bob
