This Blue Hotel
© 2017 Kenny Leverett

Catch a falling star on the way down
On a lonely road on the edge of town
A blue hotel there for broken hearts
Everybody knows the scene
Everybody plays their part

Darlin’ this blue hotel’s
Got me thinking about you
But I know too well
These burned out bridges
In my rear view
Leave me here alone
In this blue hotel

The sun will rise and the nights will fall
Days will go by in no time at all
You were the one made my spirits fly
Now it’s come undone
Was it just a lie

Darlin’ this blue hotel’s
Got me thinking about you
But I know too well
These burned out bridges
In my rear view
Leave me here all alone
In this blue hotel

There's a thread in one of the forums about "the all important first line." Man you nailed it here. Grabbed us from the git go and didn't let go.

Heartbreak Hotel revisited!

Standout write, vocal, band and production -- as typical you present the whole package and as usual we much enjoyed it!

Kenny,

Great lyrics and a killer vocal on this ( a just on the edge of breaking down feeling which makes me want to go play my Lucinda Williams records!).
I also really enjoyed that guitar solo at the end.

Kenny,

This is EXCELLENT!

A good write. Such a nice rock-ballad melody!

Your vocal on this is a real stand out. Grit and melancholy...

A good band...production and arrangement - wonderful... A GREAT listen! Top-notch stuff.

This is so good. One of my favorites so far this year. Rockin' right along with it as I write my post...

Everything blends together - A great arrangement, write and performance. You did a wonderful job of putting everything together seamlessly.

A timeless feel about this one.

Enjoying my listen...

Beautiful Kenny!! Your songs hit me right in the gut, and I mean that as the greatest compliment. If there's one thing that could improve this (in my opinion), it's a different lead guitar. I think that's Brent (who is God-like) but it just seems a little too rock/too fast for the song. Maybe one of the background slide things would work better? Your music is amazing. If you ever do a physical CD, I WANT a copy! Take care. Greg

Thanks guys, I did think of Heartbreak Hotel part way into this and
kinda liked the similairities, and then looked up to find out how many
Blue Hotel songs were out there. There's Ryan Adams and Chris Isaaks
but I haven't listened to them yet. Thanks for the always kind words
and support.

Thanks Greg, I'll be sure to let you know when these songs get compiled for
a CD Baby release. Appreciate your input too, I'm kinda burned out on the slide
player right now, I tried playing the guitar solo myself and thought Brent got it
down much better.

Really awesome tune, Kenny. Loving the vocal; it's reminding me of some of that more melancholy 90s grunge/indie stuff. The lyrics are great, too. They really compliment your vocal performance.

lots of raw emotion and talent
great write and feel to this Kenny
well done

Great rocker Kenny. Awesome guitar.

Your stuff just keeps getting better and better.

Kenny, we came back for another listen and this time were immediately reminded of a producer/singer/writer/guitarist we've listened to over the years...Gurf Morlix. Your vocal and writes have a similar feel. If memory serves he produced Robert Earl Keene and worked with Lucinda Williams.

Thanks again! I really like this guy Gurf, he sounds kinda like John Hiatt
to me and looks a lot like an old bandmate of mine.
