You're My Cougar

Monday morning, on the bus alone
Watching you waiting there in the snow and sleet
You come down the aisle, see me, and you smile
But you stop at the top, I drop.

Ten o’clock math class.
Teacher calls on me
Explain please to the class the quadratic equation
A squared b squared you and me squared
You turn red, laughter spread, I’m dead.

Lunchtime, table, leave a place for you
But you pass me by, sitting with your friends
I wonder what you’re saying
Is it something of interest to me?
You turn, eyes spurn, I burn

Afternoon civics class, vote class president.
You’re not running, but still I I vote for you.
They stare, you glare, I don’t care.
I vote my conscience.

Three o’clock on the bus, by myself again
You climb, walking slow, eyes down to the floor
But you’re near me then you sit and smile
You touch my cheek, hold my hand,
And you say, “You’re my Cougar.”

Reverb (the purpose of this experiment, thanks Floyd Jane and Guitarhacker) was done in Audacity, using the Long Vocal Room by Oliver Momm in Eventide’s Stereo Room 2016. I think it makes the piano muddy, but I don’t know what to do about that (yet).

Sounds like a bygone classic from an old movie
with some clever lyrics and words and terms
seldom heard in love songs.

Enjoyed the heck out of it

Marty,

As Kenny said this sounds like its from an old movie - the lyrics are funny and cool and read like a script.
I enjoyed watching the scene play in my mind!

Marty

Nice clever set of lyrics, and nice jazz inflected backing. As noted has a movie soundtrack feel.

Just an example of some really clever, interesting writing!! You have a certain touch which makes me think of the classic writers of yesteryear. A lot to like here! Take care. Greg
