Call back tomorrow

(true story)

Now let me set this scene for you It was a different time
I was quite a younger man strolling through my prime
I ran from pillar to post, just a'tryin to catch the wind
Then one day she said I'm through with you I think I'll pack it in

Broken, shattered and dazed a bit my thoughts were turning bad
Remembering all the things I lost I just couldn't understand
The end was looking good to me just a'hangin by a thread
So I dialed up the hotline and the voice came back and said

Could you call back tomorrow My buddy's sick today
Sorry bout your circumstance but I'm not sure what to say
I'm really just not qualified to reply in any way
Could you call back tomorrow there's no one here today

My mouth was hanging open and my eyes went a rollin back
Irony had played its card till I just had to laugh
You can’t prepare completely though you try your best sometimes
You find out what you’re made of when you're staring at the finish line

Could you call back tomorrow My buddy's sick today
Sorry bout your circumstance but I'm not sure what to say
I'm really just not qualified to reply in any way
Could you call back tomorrow there's no one here today

Well I’ll leave you now to think about the times you said no more
Absolutely certain you checked behind every door
you never really know until you’re sure the end is near
But If your lucky when you call for help this is what you'll hear

Could you call back tomorrow My buddy's sick today
Sorry bout your circumstance but I'm not sure what to say
I'm really just not qualified to reply in any way
Could you call back tomorrow there's no one here today

Could you call back tomorrow My buddy's sick today
Sorry bout your circumstance but I'm not sure what to say
I'm really just not qualified to reply in any way
Could you call back tomorrow there's no one here today

Could you call back tomorrow there's no one here today

Welcome to the forum. Excellent first song. Loved the vocal. Reminded me of Roger Miller. Excellent use of the realtracks

Hi,

Welcome to the PG Music Users' Showcase.

Great offering for your first post. We agree with the Roger Miller analogy. Really smooth vocal and a great selection of backing tracks. Also, really nice harmony on the voice in the chorus. Best to you.

John,

Welcome to the Showcase! Terrific first post.

A good write. Very well sung. Excellent backing - perfect for the song. And really well mixed. You've really hit-the-ground-running...

Reminded me of the sound of Jerry Jeff Walker's L.A. Freeway album... Nice.

Floyd said it. Really, really good song, well done in every way. I hear a little Jerry Jeff too. Vocal is great-so comfortable and natural. WELCOME!! And keep 'em coming! Take care. Greg
