Sunny Day
© 2017 Kenny Leverett

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bluer sky
There’s no clouds here in our way
So many people pass us by
But you’re the only one that I see today

And if I can speak my mind
I can’t hide what’s inside
That you are my sunny day

I knew I was waiting
Waiting for someone
And so many times I wanted to just give up
I didn’t think I’d ever really find the one
But then you appeared and I knew real love

There’s no clouds here in our way
Now that you are here to stay
Girl you are my sunny day

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bluer sky

Loved this tune Kenny. Super feel to the tune. Excellent vocal. Guitar work was very cool as well

HI Kenny,

What we've enjoyed about your music recently is the variety in style. You have a real nice mix of laid back and high energy in this one. Your guitar work sounds great and your gritty voice gives this a pleasant but biting edge. As always, we enjoyed uit a bunch. Best to you.

Alan & Di

PS: Happy Friday to you, too!

Kenny,
Nice one! There`s a loose rocking feel to this that reminded me of post-Beatles McCartney and the happy vibe is complimented by those harmonies- love the whoops!
Very enjoyable.

Really nice rocker - great backing with a excellent strong vocal.
All came together very nicely.

Very cool sound on this, Kenny.

The guitars all work nicely together.

A powerful rock vocal. The woop is great! (seems some "breakup" with the harmonies on "sunny.." - though that might be an accumulation of "rasps").

You are on a tear. And always SO catchy. you have a real knack for that (the way Elvis Costello always did).

Kenny, Great rocker. Super vocal. I also thought the harmonies were distorted. I also loved the woop. Another really catchy write. Good job! Tom

Kenny, what a wonderful chord progression in those verses. Those changes get my attention. Great sound, mix & performance!! Thanks, Torrey

thanks Alan & Di,

you always catch the little notes, eh amigo?

I can't do much about that gritty voice so I just use it.

I appreciate the kind words and the listen

Kenny,

Very nice rock song.
Well composed as always.
We do think however that the mix has slightly too much hi frequency in it.
But that's just a small nit wink

Robert, I appreciate that, wow! McCartney (I wish)

I was trying to convey joy, thanks for noticing the whoops

I was happy that I wouldn't have to sing it again!

I think an upbeat, happy, simple love song is hard to write

maybe the hardest for me, so I really appreciate your comments

thanks floyd for the kind words

appreciate your input on the breakup/distortion on the vocals,

I think it might be that something happened with the upload, I'm

thinking about doing it over. I listened to the harmony track soloed

and it sounded like the poster boy for COPD of course and the hum

from the freezer in the room, I heard the boom coming up thru the floor

from the airport that's about a mile away and a couple of the dogs barking,

just the normal things that everybody deals with, but no pegging or breaking

up that I could discern. Seriously, I do appreciate this and it'll be fun to try to

re-record some of this to make it better. love Costello

That's one cool bunch of PG Music pickers you put together for your band. Sounds like they've been on road together for a while.

"I think an upbeat, happy, simple love song is hard to write"

I couldn't agree more. You can be up to the brim full of the feeling but it ain't easy to write it down. You did a superb job with it.

Far as the grit goes it's a vocal quality we have long liked. I once read how John Winter practiced singing with his face in a pillow when he was young to get the sound. The only way he could get away with it as his mother wasn't enthralled.

Good write, vocal and production and a LOT of fun.

going on

Kenny,

I first listened to this song three or four weeks ago. Today, as I was backtracking through the forum, I discovered that I neglected to leave a comment. My apologies.

This is yet another fine creation for your songbook. The laid back, light rock feel is a perfect fit for your vocals.

You're reputation as a talented songwriter continues!

All the best,
Noel
