The Law

I broke the law
with my reckless words and chasing every skirt I saw
there aint nothing left of me, I broke the law

I lost the key
to the only home that ever meant a thing to me
I cant live there anymore, I lost the key

love the one who shares your blood and love the one who owns you
love the one who broke your heart; love the next one that you start
and save some love for me cause that's the law

I took the ride
In a black and white I showed my darker side
and that poison humbled me, I took the ride

I had it made
with a little job that kept my mortgage paid
I cant work there anymore, I a had it made

Chorus- instrumental- chorus

Nice the way you arranged the lyric around the introductory phrase to each one.

"I took the ride
In a black and white I showed my darker side
and that poison humbled me, I took the ride"

That's our fav with the play on words.

Enjoyed the spin.

Nicely done.
This has a Willy Nelson overtone going on.
Well written and constructed.
