This is a FAWM song that I wrote tonight, but I felt it would be better placed in it's own thread. Someone suggested a challenge to write a song about Starman who was launched into space today with the SpaceX rocket. The following ballad is what I came up with using BIAB.

Starman

Realtracks:
2579,Bass, Synth RnB Modern Sub
1839: Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm Pop Modern Groove
688: Organ, B3, Background Pop
2668: Pedal Steel, Background West Coast Ballad
2334: String Quartet, Rhythm, Pop Chamber
Real Drums - RnB Modern Ev16

Lyrics:
Starman… I know your gonna travel far
Flying… In your fancy sports car
Looking down on all of us from up among the stars
Please don’t forget what you are.

Got a first class ticket. Their gonna send you to space.
Maybe you’ll look back one of these days
And wonder bout your choices and what you could have been.
Here in a world among men.

Starman… I know your gonna travel far
Flying… In your fancy sports car
Looking down on all of us from up among the stars
Please don’t forget what you are.

You could have been a model showing your off fancy suits
Dressed in Armani cloths and Modello shoes
But you wanted more from life. You wanted to fly.
Now your up high above the sky.

Starman… I know your gonna travel far
Flying… In your fancy sports car
Looking down on all of us from up among the stars
Please don’t forget what you are.

Many men have dreamed of flying up towards the sun
But you did it first. Now your just fancy space junk.

Starman… I know your gonna travel far
Flying… In your fancy sports car
Looking down on all of us from up among the stars
Please don’t forget what you are.

Cool. Captures some of our feelings well. I've watched space launches since the late 50's and this was truly amazing. And let us not forget that "Space Oddity" is playing on a loop from the Tesla's radio smile

Nice tune. You guys and gals who can "write on demand" amaze us.

Kudos

Thanks Janice & Bud. I remember as a kid being amazed by the space shuttle launches. Once I even got to see one in person. My interest kind of dropped off for many years but yesterday's launch was impressive. Kind of a science fiction type feel to wjat was accomplished. Should be interesting to see what this leads to.

Thanks David. FAWM is going realy well so far. I already have 8 songs completed. I wouldn't be nearly as far without Band in a Box.

Very cool tune Samuel. Excellent vocal and lyric

Has it been so long since space launches were regular-ish occurrences?

Growing up, I thought the future would be non-stop launches into the stars!

Gotta say, even as someone who doesn't listen to much country, this song was great. If more country sounded like this, I would probably listen to it more frequently.

To be honest, I thought it was a song about David Bowie at first.

I dont think i would consider this country Mikke. More of a pop ballad, but as usual my country influence shows through a bit.

Space launches do happen quite often here in Florida but the recent achievements are pretty astounding, and them sending a dummy in a Testla into orbit is a bit hilarious.

Hi Samuel,

Sounds like FAWN is coming along quite nicely for you. Good luck with the rest of the month.

I like this a lot. A unique lyric but very appropriate. I agree with the comment you made about wondering what this might lead to.

My family has a bit of a connection with NASA. My great uncle (maternal grandmother's brother), was a lead electrical technician on the Mercury capsule. He never made a big deal of it. I think it's pretty cool! I'm originally from St. Louis, where the capsule was built by McDonell Aircraft.

I really enjoyed this! Great job in all respects! Best to you,

Alan

Thanks Alan. FAWM has been going well. I have been busy the last few days and haven't gotten anything done, but hopefully Monday I'll get the ball rolling again.

My uncle also worked on one the space shuttles. (not sure which one off the top of my head) Small world huh?
