Another recent original I did for Song A Week Challenge. Bass and drums courtesy of Band In A Box. Not entirely happy with the performance but I ran out of "A Week" :-)

I've had BIAB for at least 10 years, used it only sporadically, but more in the last few months than ever before. Still a newbie. And I only just discovered this user forum; there is some truly fantastic music here. In the future I'll aspire to measure up :-)

Lyrics:
There you are with them same old cryin eyes, guess I’m
one of those 12 steps made you sorry for your lies
Baby you may have found yourself you may know what to do, but
honey we both been here before this ain’t nothin new

And here we go again got one last cross to bear
you’re one of those steps this fool took back lookin for my share, well
fool me twice you know the shame is still on you
we been down this road before this ain’t nothin new

I wish you well while you struggle to your last. I know
blessed is the one who makes some bargain with their past
But leave with my memories lord I have a few
but we ain’t making it any more this ain’t nothin new
... this ain’t nothin new ...
....this ain’t nothin new

This is really excellent - a very cool Neil Young vibe. Good mix as well.

Nice work here, kybordr smile I don't think you need to measure up too much, because this sounds really well done! I love the gentle groove of this one, and how well put together the arrangement is. Not to mention that guitar solo is something else!

Overall, a really nice tune smile Thanks for sharing!

kybordr,

Welcome to the Showcase.

This is a good listen. Has a mid-70's Rock sound that we grew up with. Nicely done.

You mention BIAB for drums and bass. Are you doing everything else? Keyboards (no doubt) and guitars?

Good vocal and good mix.

This was a really great song. It has a smoothness to it that I really link. I think you did a pretty stellar job here. smile I see you're relatively new to the forums, so welcome if I haven't already said so!

Hi

Love the slinky backing particularly the guitar
and the world weary lyrics.

Good one.

Cheers.

Yeah! Very much a Neil Young vibe happening, "down by the river" type groove. Your lead guitar work reminds me of him too.

Great vocal, great job on the live instruments too.

Welcome to the forum, looking forward to hearing more from you!

Thoroughly enjoyable. You've captured and delivered a truly great performance.

Excellent songwriting. Would really appreciate to hear more, that's for sure.

The lead break sits perfectly, and the overall feel is flawless. That bass line rocks.

Cool vibe!! I think you chose the perfect band. The vocal is good but could be a little more forward. Absolutely love this line

fool me twice you know the shame is still on you

A great twist on the classic saying!

Enjoyed this!! Take care. Greg
