Hello, forum friends

This is my newest recording.
At the end of last December, our music circle held a regular recording session scheduled twice a year.
The session consists of two parts, the students’ session and the teachers’ session.
This song was written for the teachers’ session.
I would like to introduce you two versions with the same score, which are the RealTracks version and the live band version.
Any comments encouraged.
Always welcome.

Best regards.

Shigeki Adachi

Summary of lyrics:

When I wake up in the night
You have not been next to me any more
I realize again that I can’t find you anywhere
I can’t sleep also tonight.

Your profile is still clearly burned
Into the back of my eyelids
No matter how I call your name
You don’t look back at me.
It repeats endlessly

Am I having a bad dream?
I can’t put up with this harsh reality
If I can escape from this painfulness
I don’t want anything but that

Only the thought that I want to see you
Is going round and round in my mind
I am alone under the whitening sky
I can’t sleep also tonight.

I can hear your voice
Calling my name again and again
No matter how I am looking for you
I can’t find you anywhere
It repeats endlessly

I remember your warmth
I can't disappear it forever
If only you let me sleep in your arms
I don’t want anything but that

Only the thought that I want to see you
Is going round and round in my mind
I am alone in the deep darkness
I can’t sleep also tonight
Wow. A usual this material just has the utmost quality. Every part of the arrangement is of absolutely outstanding quality.

The attention to detail, the balance, the overwhelming professionalism leaves no doubt that this has been created by a very dedicated team.
Shigeki Adachi,

Stunning! As always. The clarity of the mix is amazing - pro all the way.

Great drum sound - just right. Beautiful string arrangement. The sax is awesome. Yoko's vocal is exquisite.

The live version is just as good!

Outstanding!

floyd
Wow - this is incredible! It's so well textured, and such a cohesive sounding tune. I honestly can't decide which version I like more. They both hold their own weight. Very well written, very well arranged, and very well mixed.

Not a thing I'd change here - great work, and thanks for sharing smile
Another awesome tune Shigeki. Super smooth backtrack and excellent vocal. Well done..
Shigeki Adachi, The production on both versions is spectacular! The vocal is extremely good. I enjoyed them both immensely, Tom
Shigeki,
There aren`t many jazz tunes I`d listen through twice (just not my genre), but I never regret listening to the marvellous productions you post here!
Both versions are top level; perhaps the percussion is more energetic on the RT version, but I like the picture I have of your group playing together, so my nod goes to the live recording.

Robert
Such a wonderful sound. Lush, full and haunting. Great arrangement and vocal!

Well done in everyway

much enjoyed!
Always such gorgeous vocals, arrangements and productions. You my friend are amazing.
Shigeki

Wonderful work by all concerned. Superb arrangement, performance and production. Liked both versions.

Peter
Excellent vocals, mix and the selection of instruments. Piano, sax and drums support well the melody and nice smooth jazz chord progression. Your string arrangement is always so enjoyable to listen to.

Janne
Both versions are professional at every level. The lyrics are exquisite. I always look forward to your posts.
Great work Shigeki!! Everything about this track is just simply awesome! It has such a beautiful mix and performance on it that there is no place in it that I can hear which needs improvement in any way! Everything you post is always great without exception! Thanks, Torrey
I always look forward to listening to your songs! This one in particular had me swaying in my seat, but I couldn't help but notice the almost 'wanting' that was present in the tone of the vocalist's singing. When I scrolled back up to read the translated lyrics, I realized why. I think that's a true sign of talent -- being able to portray emotion in your songs without necessarily having the listen be a speaker of the language in order to understand it fully. But I understood the emotion behind it, and that's a wonderful thing.

Thanks for sharing!
Hi Shigeki Adachi

You make this song so full and rich... the production has a hi-fidelity to it. Brings me back to remember my parent's stero that has the sliding door with a liquor cabinet. They are both class productions. You have great talent. She has beautiful voice, this is a class act. Always enjoy your craft.
Shigeki,

It's always a great treat to see a new post from you. Your music is always some of the best produced and mixed.

Both versions are stunning! It would be difficult to chose one over the other. Yoko's voice is such a pleasure to listen to. Love the strings. the mix is perfect - everything exactly where it should be and perfectly balanced.

Congratulations on a gorgeous song and a stunning production.

Alan

Hi Shigeki

Thank you for bringing such beautiful music to the forum.
Both versions are quite delicious but I feel the the live version is a little more sympathetic to the music and to the vocalist somehow.
However I'm not a technical person and enjoyed both immensely.

Cheers.

To write the string arrangement is a big fun for me.
I strongly recommend that you try once to write the string allengement.
I think you will surely succeed in it, because you always write good melody lines.

Hello, Richard

Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and comment.
Many thanks for listening to the both versions.
I am really glad you like this tune and my arrangement.
The vocalist recorded this song accompanied with the live version, the same vocal track was diverted to the RT version.
Maybe that is the reason you feel the the live version is a little more sympathetic to the music and to the vocalist.
Or perhaps the live performance may be slightly more human-friendly.

Best regards.

Shigeki Adachi
Shigeki, it’s nearly impossible to add anything to all the wonderful responses you have received for this tune (both versions).

We listened to both and they are equally beautifully produced. The instrumental and vocal performances are lovely and so well recorded. The mix sounds like each track has its place yet all work together to present a gorgeous soundstage.

We appreciate you sharing these productions with us!
