Long time in making, just finishing up..

Desert Crossing

On my way 'cross a desert of plenty and opulence;
Far away from oases of blessed emptiness;
The blazing, endless dunes,
And sizzling afternoons,
Scorched by the heat of wealth.

Straight ahead is an image of quenching luxuries
Or instead should I wander the path my spirit sees?

For this desert trek of life
Isn't barren and parched by the heat of the sun
But it's marked with
Comfort and wealth and all the finest things
This quest for my soul.

On my way 'cross a desert of plenty and opulence
Far away from oases of blessed emptiness

But this desert of my life
Isn't barren and parched by the heat of the sun
I see a vision--
Riches and wealth, all the finest wonders
So cooling! Right in front of me!
It's just a mirage that can't mislead me;
This desert has freed me--I'm home!

Love this piece of music. So cool how the backtrack and vocal had three different timings but fit so well together. Very interesting. Well done..

EXCELLENT! Your vocals and lyrics are super! Your backing tracks fit perfectly. I can hear John Pizzarelli doing this.

Two thumbs up.

Wow - you did a great job making a unique piece here. The groove is infectious, and so unique. There is a lot happening here, but it avoids sounding crowded. I'm really curious what time signature this is in!

Great job, and thanks for sharing smile

Thanks for comments! Regarding time sign, it’s just a 4/4..If you think about the rhythm section like a piano, then the “chords” are in the right hand, and play on the off-beats.

Musically, this is just so well written.

The chord structure gives complexity to the overall delivery.

Lyrically, this is just so catchy.

Great, great, great.

Hello, Tom

The influence of Tom Jobim is felt everywhere.
Speaking of which, your singing way is exactly like Tom Jobim.
It sounds like hearing Jobim's new song with his own vocal.
How to use each instrument is also very nice.
Strings are comfortable, too.
I would like to hear your spectacular orchestration once some day.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

This song has a nice little bop to it. It painted a very distinct image in my head. I can see a guy in a suit with his tie loose and crooked around his neck, his arms sagging at his sides and he takes this fast-long strides and just bobs along as he wanders this this opulent desert. Like he's not bothered by being there under the blazing sun, but like he's looking for something and hasn't found it yet.

Very cool tune. Thanks for sharing.
