Swamp

This song is a bit different from my normal tunes and I don't think that I've heard anything quite like it here on the forums. It's a kind of anthemic rap rock song about not giving into societal norms and standing up for what you believe in.

Real Tracks:
644: Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Hard Rock Thrash Hollow
1418: Bass, Electric, Southern Rock
1530: Guitar, Electric, Soloist Pop Power
Real Drums=Metal Slow Big Tom Groove

Besides the BIAB real tracks I also added 5 VST instrumental tracks using Hybrid, Xpand and Groove Agent. All mixing and recording was done in Cubase 9. There are 11 Vocal tracks With variouse effects on each channel. I will post a link to an isolated vocal sample as well as a Soundcloud link at the bottom of the post.

Lyrics:
People pushing people shoving
All this ruckus over nothing
All these differing opinions
Got us fighting just like minions
Veterans living in the streets
Kids with nothing left to eat
got our finger on the trigger
But the crack keeps getting bigger

Question the system. Don’t be a victim.
Don’t buy into their lies.
Don’t just believe what they believe in
Stand up for what is right.

Teachers cannot teach
And the preacher cannot preach
Equal pay for half the work
For fear that feelings may get hurt
It’s the beginning of the end
All to make sure we don’t offend
They keep on trying to infect us
With political correctness.

Question the system. Don’t be a victim.
Don’t buy into their lies.
Don’t just believe what they believe in
Stand up for what is right.

Go to the doctor for your problems
But they never really solve them
Tell you try to get a grip
As they write another script
Here’s a pill for your erection
But it’s all just misdirection
Say it’s in the name of science
What they really want is silence.

Question the system. Don’t be a victim.
Don’t buy into their lies.
Don’t just believe in what they believe in
Stand up for what is right.

I had to click it a few times in order for it to play, but it finally worked! This is a pretty unique one! I really like what you did with the harder feel of this song. Great job.

Hey Samuel I was not getting any sound either. Just a spinning record. Soundcloud was working no problem

Nothing for me either, Samuel! Do you happen to have a SoundCloud link maybe? I'd love to hear it judging by the lyrics and description smile

The sound cloud link is at the bottom of the post.

I'm having issues playing Musicion on my phone today so I changed the main link to the Sound cloud.

Oh yeah!!

This is really cool man. Really cool.

I would add some more effects to the vocals at the beginning, like slight delay, and more echo and reverb or something. They sound dry compared to the rest of the song.

But a great song though.

I enjoyed it!!

Powerful song ... great mix ... awesome effects

Great track! Excellent mix, and I loved the use of silence.

I'll go along with David's comment that it might have been cool to add some FX to the voice, but that's just a small nit.

Excellent work.

Samuel,

Oooh, now that`s heavy! A powerful sound assault ( love the jackhammer!?) with some good rapping lines (I know from experience its not easy to get that synced).
I agree with others that the lead vocal could use more verb/delay.
Good work on an outside-the-box song.

Samuel,

"Fantastic!" is what first came to mind and it was closely followed by a whole heap of adjectives of admiration.

Great writing, powerful lyrics, excellent arranging, excellent performing, highly polished mix, etc.... you name it, it's there!

I really enjoyed this.

Regards,
Noel

Love this Samuel!! Some great lyrics...and they ring very true. I like the arrangement. Sometimes it's a bit hard to discern some lyrics (at least on computer speakers). Great stuff!! Take care. Greg

This is far removed from what we listen to genre wise but the very strong lyric and production drew me in. I really admire both your willingness and ability to jump into new stuff. Our move from traditional bluegrass to Americana and blues was was a slow process. You seem to be a chameleon! And that is a compliment

Convincingly well done!

PS Musicoin folks have the patience of Job smile

Thanks Janice and Bud. I dabble in all styles of music. I love it all and feel like each genre has something different you can learn from it. I also like combining genres. Country/rock, country/rap, rap/rock etc. It's just fun to create new stuff.
