When my wife and I were in the mountains for our anniversary earlier this month we saw we were staying in a place called “Aho.” Aho, NC. The moment I saw that sign I asked myself, WWFD? (What would Floyd do?)

The answer was obvious.

Aho

By David Snyder

CH:

Well I was born and raised in Aho
Aho, NC
There’s a little bit of Aho in everybody
But I whole lot more in me
A whole lot more in me

V1

When I was in the first grade
A bully swung at me
So I poked him in the eyeball
Sent him to the infirmary
My mama said now son
That poor boy can’t see
I said mama I got some Aho
A little Aho left in me

CH:

Cause I was born and raised in Aho
Aho, NC
There’s a little bit of Aho in everybody
But I whole lot more in me
A whole lot more in me

V2

At a country square dance
A drunk man touched my wife
So I got out my tire thumper
Beat him within an inch of his life
The judge said now son
Explain this one to me
I said your honor just go ahead and convict me
Of Aho in the first degree

CH:

Cause I was born and raised in Aho
Aho, NC
There’s a little bit of Aho in everybody
But I whole lot more in me
A whole lot more in me

Bridge:

And sometimes you got to be an Aho
Just to protect your dignity
And you have every right to be an Aho
In the land of the brave and the free

CH:

Cause I was born and raised in Aho
Aho, NC
There’s a little bit of Aho in everybody
But I whole lot more in me
A whole lot more in me

Wow, this is fun- I love place names & this is a double take town for sure... as are your lyrics (glad you left out the Gap!).
Almost in Tater territory, but there`s a righteous message here too.
Hope its pretty country there.

One of the hardest things to do is write a hit song in a Dog eat Dog world.

The other thing is write comedy in to a song.

That was a good old fun song.

Well done.

HAHAHAHA!!!

A well written, clever/funny lyric (without getting too far out there).

I like the band - fits the song well - has a sound/feel like Darius Rucker's version of Wagon Wheel...

A good listen. fer sure.

David this is great! What a great play on words!

LOL! Good laugh David and nice production too.

David,

This was total enjoyment! No double entendres hit the fan with this. Clever lyrics that were purposefully and perfectly assembled without ever once crossing the line. That's skill!

The band was excellent too and a terrific fit.

It's two thumbs up from me.

All the best,
Noel

Man, what a fun song! Brilliant writing and I always dig your vocal, so honest sounding.

Great stuff, David!

Ha! Love it! Super catchy, well written and produced song that you can't help but smile about.

The Aho/A Whole was brilliant!

Great job David!

You were VERY smart not to make this song about "A Hoe." wink We don't need a song about a tilling and/or raking implement. smile

For what it's worth, the chorus is stuck in my head now. grin

Congrats on your anniversary btw! smile

David,

Some folks a way with words - you have a litany of ways with words. Loved this - still smiling! You know how to push the limits while not going outside the lines (although it is fun to color outside the lines one in a while. Happy anniversary! Loved it!!!

Hello, David

Really fun song!
I agree with Robert.
Almost in Tater territory, but there's a righteous message here too.
Hope its pretty country there.
By the way, in Japanese, "Aho" (pronounced〘ɑho〙 not 〘eɪho〙) means ”a fool", so I was astonished a bit when I saw the title.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Wooow, I was definitely not expecting the content of this song! I didn't read the lyrics until after, and the sound of the song really caught me off guard when it clicked what was being said. grin Clever. Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely nothing, unless you dig a little deeper...which is what hoes are for. smile

Hi, David !:))

I liked this Aho tune of
yours really much !
You may not be aware that
Aho also is a finnish surname
and means something like "field"
in that language !

A really Aho tune !!!!

Shigeki,

I will be sure not to use that word in public if I ever come and visit you to do a collab, though some of your friends may use it when referring to me.

Unfortunately, however, now I will know what they are saying.

Dear Ember,

I am writing my next song about a flatbread sandwich! Great idea.

I saw the embers cooking
a tasty flatbread treat
it was almost noon in Victoria
and Ember had nothing to eat
and here I had some more bread
with delicious cheese and ham
olive oil and tomatoes
and juicy anchovies from a can
toasted to perfection on a wood fire
with a side of Chardonnay..

Oh I am sorry, Ember am I making it worse????
