Hi all.
Woolworths or Woolies is one of Australia's larger grocery stores and they have just banned plastics bags which have been a real problem in the environment. This song is written from the point of view of the plastic bag.

I'm a Woolies plastic shopping bag and now I have no job.
I used to take your butter home and help to carry your grog.
I had one thousand uses till the love you had was lost
but I would like to hang around no matter what the cost.
Bridge
Chorus
Let me take your grocery shopping home from the discount store.
Let me dangle freely from your arm like I did before
Bridge
I'm a Woolies plastic shopping bag and now I have no job.
I used to take your butter home and help to carry your grog.
I would end up in the rubish dump or float up on the reef.
But since I Lost my lively hood my lifes been full of greif my lifes been full of greif.

Nice work on this one
Coincidentally, where we are located in Canada also just banned plastic bags too, as of July 1st. I found this to be a really interesting concept for a tune, and it is executed really well too!
Great work and thanks for sharing
Excellent!! Why "talk" about an issue when you can "sing" about it?!! You have definitely 'handled' this topic well, and you can obviously 'carry' a novelty song like this so well!
Really like the style you chose, and the little solo's in-between the verses. Also, I appreciate your choice of words and rhymes==nothing seems forced, no false rhymes--very nicely done. I'd have to say, this one is 'in the bag'!
Those bags are a scourge on our countryside in our part of the world. Along the roadside, hanging on fences, in trees.
Cool song/production and I hope that bag doesn't find another gig!

This song is written from the point of view of the plastic bag.
Pure genius!
Nicely done, and clever lyrics too!
Deryk already beat me to it -- the ban went through for plastic bags on July 1st I believe, just in time for Canada Day. I'm happy to see the change to be honest. There is nothing worse then being happy to be out in nature and then looking to your right and seeing so much plastic it's insane. It's one small step, but it'll make an impact.
But, back to the topic at hand -- your song! This actually was a sad song considering that it's written from the perspective of the plastic bag. It's hard to sympathize with the plastic bag when it takes so long to degrade at landfills, but I think it speaks volumes for your song that it actually made me feel a little bad for the plastic bags of the world.
Thanks for sharing!
Very nice song Rob and we definitely sympathize with the lyrics!
Hi Rob,
This is a very clever write. You've got a flair for 'quirky' in a very good way.
As I listened to this, there were different points in the song when you reminded me of Johnny Ashcroft and his "Little Boy Lost" (that's a big compliment, by the way).
I totally enjoyed listening.
All the best,
Noel

G'day mate...
I gave a listen IBB....I like it.
Original, non-cliche subject matter choice, cool story on the plight of the plastic shopping bag, well performed and a clever write.
Works for me.....well done.
Back to it....
Rob,
Well that`s a whole new perspective on environmental responsibility...you almost had me shedding a tear for the poor rejected bag!
I like personification songs - I think you made this believable and the arrangement works well.
Robert
This was a nice meaningful song of the demise of the plastic bag.
Rob,
Lovely tilt at the scourge.
Pity so many consumers are complaining - Woolies & Coles aren't though - they'll make millions selling the slightly less throw away bags for 15c a pop and the semi perm one for a dollar +.
Interesting song Rob! Not really sure if my heart can go out to a bag, but if it could, this song would do it. Very creative angle on this. Music is really cool! Take care. Greg
Man,
I keep crying and crying listening to this song about the poor little plastic bag that didn't hurt anyone.
Looks like I have used up 400 boxes of tissues listening to it, and I see they are chopping down some trees across the street to make some more.
Until then I will just be stuffing my kleenex into styrofoam cups and tossing them out the window of my truck along with my cigarette butts because I don't have any more plastic bags to put them in.
Oh well.
Thanks for the great song Iron Bark!!!!
P.S. Hope I wasn't too goofy.
Interesting concept with cool tracks! terrific listen which caused some serious but less than attractive chair dancing on my part. Your vocal has somewhat of a Buddy Holly sound to my ears. A real good listen!
