Love Gone

©2012 Robert Randall Burke

Well, there's somethin'
Somethin' goin' on here
My key
Won't fit your door
Is this your way of sayin'
You don't want me no more?

Six months on the road
Seems like a lifetime
But it seems so much longer
When you're alone
Don't play no games, baby
Just hang a sign on your door
“Love Gone”.

I can tell by the look on your sweet face
Somebody new has taken my place
And, baby, there ain't no right or wrong
When the sign says “Love Gone”.

Excellent blues song!

Reminds me of something Robert Cray might have done back around his Strong Persuader period.

Good writing and love your vocal! Also is that you playing the lead guitar?

Really good, Bob, enjoyed this one.

What a jam! Loving the bluesy vibes on this one. It sounds lush, and almost "smoky" if you will. I love your vocals on this. Somehow, it sounds simultaneously rough and smooth. Plus - those guitar solos got some serious attitude!

Not a thing I'd change on this one. Has all the attributes I look for in a solid blues tune - thanks for sharing smile

Head shaking slow blues. Classic and classy.

Hi Bob,

If you've ever written and recorded a less than stellar song, I've not heard it. Super Blues, arrangement and delivery. Your vocals always shine. This is no exception. Nice musical jam, too. Totally loved it. Best to you.

"90 dB"...

Your blues, "Love Gone", is so hopeless in tone, that it reminds me of how stunned, shocked, hurt, and dizzyingly blindsided I was after a woman ended our relationship suddenly, without apology or a sliver of regret. I'm, not, lying. Even worse, it was my fault, completely. The song grabbed me by the back of neck and forced me to think about it even as I utilized all of my mental energy to kick the memory of it out of my brain.

You have delivered the story of the downside of a romantic experience by way of music, and through the direct transfusion of emotion from your withering vocal straight into my still unhealed heart, sir. The RealTracks held you to the truth you every with bar of their performance.

"Love Gone". You better believe it. As in never coming back. You don't mess around, do you, "90dB"?

Smacked-down into yesterday,

LOREN (a.k.a. "bluage")

"Reminds me of something Robert Cray might have done back around his Strong Persuader period."

Dave nailed it. It definitely has that feel...confident and classy.

Outstanding vocal and guitar performances and a mix that presents an excellent soundstage.

We love a song that says so much with so few lines. Not easy to do and this is a stellar example of how well that approach can work.

Thanks for bringing this back!

Bob, great write and what a vocal performance. Sometimes blues can be a little difficult genre to write something unique, but you nailed it. You deserve all the accolades for this one. A superb job, Tom

To everyone that responded- thanks for the listen and kind comments. No, that's not me playing. It's a Real Track, but I can't remember which one, cause it was done in RB, and I didn't save the Real Band file.

Great lyric: "My key/Won't fit your door." That line is a loaded metaphor. This song is groovin'. Great vocal!

Great little shuffle blues & I love the simple straight forward lyrics that lead to the hook "Love Gone"... I really enjoyed this song & I'll bet it will be very popular in your live performances... Good job!

Great line. Great title.

Clean mix. Excellent playing, solid vocal.

Soulful vocal performance... really well done... I love the song lyrics and delivery... great mix too.

My only criticism would be...the Solo RT tempo range doesn't match the song tempo, and had to be speeded up too much... It doesn't sound natural to me.
I'd suggest replacing the Guitar Solo with something that was recorded at a tempo closer to that of the song.
Everything else sounded really good to me.

I'm glad someone gave this a return trip to the front page! This is great! The vocal is full of soulful feeling and as someone else mentioned, I hear Clapton in the singing! Great blues! Thanks, Torrey

Great bluesy sound. At first I thought it was going to be too long of a song, but then I found myself wanting to listen to it again. Good job.
