Well, what a way to end the Year!
I managed to complete a song I wanted to do a long time ago, dedicated to my late mother who encouraged me to sing with my soul. Here's to you Mom!
This song was done entirely with Band in A Box real instruments from the 2019 edition (BTW just purchased the 2020 update)
I wish all the BIAB users a Happy new year and many happy music production hours

Nice track. Well done!
I didn't know that Joanne Cooper has tips on YouTube... will check them out.
Thanks a lot for sharing!
Will
You've drenched your vocal in a fair bit of reverb - and there're, (at least), two different vocal aren't they?
Nice song.
Ms. Cooper's tips on the tube & on her website are excellent.
This is a very nice song. I really enjoyed it. There's a couple things the were interesting - at the 1:20 mark, there's a nice little key change (I think), and then that next segment after that really made me think of Ringo Starr - maybe it was the combination of the voice and the style, but that kicked it up a notch.
Happy New Year!
Hello Will,
Thank you and a pleasure. She has some great videos on the tube and wise to invest time and apply. BTW I am officially a fan of her music and she has a great voice

Hi rayc
Right on the button with more than average reverb. I do not have a naturally expressive voice so I have to dope it somewhat. Two voices, both my own, one harmonized. I liked the effect and decided to keep it in the mix. Well picked up indeed.
Thank you for the compliment

Hi EdZ314
Thank you and glad you did.
No Key change but I extended a 1 bar chord to the next bar first two beats and then added C/D to lead to the G and trigger me for the higher pitch

Nice song - touching write.
As there's nothing wrong with your voice, there's no need to use anything but the "regular" amount of reverb.
You've got the same instrumentation through the song. That's not a bad thing, but give it a bit of "sameness" after a while. Changing the instrumentation a bit - such as starting a bit more sparse, and then adding instruments - would help create a bit more build.
I enjoyed the song. Well done.
Hi Chris,
This is a really good listen. Your writing and presenting are strong and you engaged me from start to finish. The instruments that you chose to back you were a great fit and enhanced the emotional journey of these very touching lyrics.
May 2020 be kind to you!
Noel
Hi dcuny
Thank you for the listen and advice, will definitely play around to see where I can improve
Hi Noel96
Thank you so much for the listen and the very positive feedback.
This was an emotional journey to express how I feel, it took a number of recordings to get past the choking bit. I am grateful for everyone's feedback and will definitely revisit and rework this song because I feel there are many who can relate to loss.
God Bless and a spectacular 2020 to you
Chris,
A very emotional song.
The BIAB backing tracks are well done, nicely mixed. The vocal is heart-felt.
Nicely done.

Wow - very nicely done. A really moving piece and the whole thing flows like water. Very easy to listen to and the vocals sound sincere and really hit you in the chest.
Thanks for sharing
Excellent tribute to your mother and a treat for us all.
The soul is there and, irrespective of genre, that will always engage us.
The choice of RTs and the mix both work well.
Thanks for sharing!

Thank you sir, glad you liked the lyrics

Chris
This is very good. I personally liked the reverb vocals. It was like you were talking to your mother from far away. And you are as you are here on earth and she is in heaven.
Excellent lyrics, good vocal, and mix.
Hello MarioD
Thank you for the feedback, and I never thought of the reverb in that way. Yeah she was a great parent, a very tough, resilient and spirited woman. I really hope this song reaches others who share the same feeling.
Have a wonderful day!
Chris
A pretty song, and a wonderful tribute!! Having lost both of my parents in the last 4 years, I can certainly relate. The music has the feel of some of the 60's British music that I love! Enjoyed this a lot!! Take care. Greg
Nice tribute and this comes across to the listener as it should, panning , reverb, vocals lo high or buried .
I've heard it all through the decades and that's the hits in the charts I'm talking about, you have to be different, experiment, if not everything would sound the same no variety in music.
Wow what a thought, nice one.
Thanks

Thank you sir!
Your feedback is encouraging and inspirational. I truly hope that I can produce much better material in the future.
