Hi all,
Here's a french acoustic waltz.
Patrick Fournerat has written the lyrics and he sings.

https://soundcloud.com/christian-devienne/venus

Here's an approximate translation :

Like an old loner, I'm at the end of the world
no more searching for the Mona Lisa.
I’m going to the basics, nothing artificial anymore.
The wind in your hair gently tickles me.
In the darkness of your eyes, I'm not empty-handed.
I can't describe the power of your smile.

Words are useless, I'm going to keep quiet.
Their meaning is versatile. Make way for imagination !
I don't want any more pictures or coloring.
I put away the pastels, the brushes and the pencils.
No more watercolors, too many imperfections !
The illusionist is an unrealist.

Even the dark room under the photographer's eye
turns out to be paltry. Close the paragraph !
I don't want any more pictures or coloring.
Seeing you is enough for me. What more could I want ?
Here I am converted, I met Venus.
I don't want any more pictures or coloring.

Another pleasant sounding song guys.
I only wish I could French fluently
So I could get the full impact of Patrick's lyrics!

Thanks Jim for your comments.
With this song, Patrick wants to say there are no words or pictures to describe the beloved woman. Christian

Lovely work from you and Monsieur Fournerat. The backing vocals work a treat.
This sounds like real cafe/bar chanson.

Beautifully written, arranged and sung.

It sounds wonderful on our monitors!

Hello Chris,

As I wrote on SoundCloud; Très bien chanson!
In this walz with that nice nylon guitar, your very nice vocals fits perfectly. This is how French songs must sound. A song with more than a touch of melancholy.

A very nice song: C'est une très belle chanson !

Thanks Hans and Rob.
It's a pleasure to read that a french song can be appreciated by people even they don't speak french. Christian

Nice work on this - love the waltz groove, and thought it was really easy on the ears. The vocals are truly stunning too - it sounds really lush.

Thanks for sharing!

Chris ...

Your songs are always so nice to listen to you. The acoustic guitar is so light yet prominent. It is so gentle .. like a leaf blowing in a sweet breeze. The background vocals are wonderful. Such a delightful listen! Best to you ...

Chris,

A very orthodox French chanson.
I really like this song. I think it's a great song.
Like Georgse Moustaki or Serge Reggiani's vocal.
The starting melody is reminiscent of "MANINHA" by Brazilian singer-songwriter Chico Buarque.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Thanks Shigeki and Noel,
It's not always easy to find an original simple melody which is the good one to put on a song. I've tried many melodies before finding this one. Christian
