Hi all,
Here's a french bluegrass song.
Nicolas Renaud has written philanthropic lyrics and Philippe Janin is the singer.

https://soundcloud.com/christian-devienne/tom-sam-et-sem

Here's an approximate translation :

Tom said to me: “The man that you see
In front of you, white or black,
is like you and me”
Tom said to me: “The man, this is hope
And blood at the same time”
Tom, all around you, it's less cold
Like around a bonfire
Like around a bonfire

Sam said to me: “The soul, when you pray,
Only has value if you give love
and let your flame shout”
Sam said to me: “The soul is always shaping
On life”
Sam, all around you, it's less cold
Like around a bonfire
Like around a bonfire

Sem said to me: “Like every moment
That time entrusts us.
It's so short, from baptism to the Field”
Sem said to me: “Like every day
Each night, every child”
Sem, all around you, it's less cold
Like around a bonfire
Like around a bonfire

Tom said to me: “The man...”
Sam said to me: “The soul...”
Sem said to me: “Like...”
All around you, it's less cold
Like around a bonfire
Like around a bonfire

As bluegrass players for many years it was fun
to hear some French Grass!

Enjoyed it.

Salut Christian,

A fabulous song!

I couldn't imagine french bluegrass, so I just had to give it a listen.

There's something incongruous about mixing the french and US cultures, but
it works for me. For some reason it made smile and feel good about things.

An inspired production and I loved the whole thing.

Christian,

Well, that was a fun listen—French blue grass, whew! Philippe does a wonderful job on the vocal and the mix is terrific. And that melody—very engaging. Wondering if you’d want to raise the volume of the fiddle and the mandolin in the breaks and on the solo just a little bit—let’s see what other think. But it’s a nit regardless, because this sounds so, so, so fine just as is. Excellent work!

All my best to you,

Deej

French Bluegrass? This is really good. Nicolas wrote some interesting lyrics and Philippe brought them to life. Added were the perfect backing tracks.

Christian & Philippe
Very nice collaboration. I have heard some Nordic bluegrass before, but I think this is the first French tune I've heard in this genre. Fun and light. Very good vocals and production! Merci.
